Help, I've lost a gcse certificate

I'm applying for a job and they've asked to see my maths gcse certificate. I'm in my 40's and have done A levels, degree and masters and have all of those certificates. I've pulled the house apart and have no idea what has happened to my gcse ones. Is it possible to get copies? I've no idea what exam board it would have been, it was back in 1998.

hiya
can you get in touch with your old school?
i used to work for a college- may be worth getting in touch with exams dept and asking which exam boards have changed?

eg i did my maths with midlands exam board MEG- this no longer exists. your nearest exams office would be able to find this out and advise. usually there is a cost of £12 or more for each cert production

I had to work out boards to apply for a second degree. That was fun (luckily mum had details)

Now old school mates email me to ask same question!

I'd not bother ordering certificates and paying before they insist on them. It's fairly obvious you have maths gcse If say you had maths a level or went to a Russel group university/whatever the 1990 equivalent was.

So avoid the cost until you have to.

If I were you I'd take all my other certificates to the interview and go through them explaining how you have to have maths GCSE to get into the courses you did for A-levels and university.

You can get a statement of results from AQA but it probably wouldn't get done in the time you have left until your interview

I did think that showing all the other certificates would be evidence enough. That has always been the case with previous jobs which is why I've never noticed that I've lost the gcse ones. The HR person is insistent that I need to prove I have a C in maths though
I will ask a friend from school about the exam board and maybe I can find a way to order it then just to tick the box.
