Very boring but condensation help!

This is a very boring thread but I’m really struggling with condensation in my house 😟

Every morning the windows are completely covered in condensation - I use a window vac to get rid of it but 30 mins later there is condensation on them again.

Ive done everything I can think of to try and limit it down - I’ve got moisture absorbers in every room, I have the heating programmed to come on morning & afternoon to stop the house getting too cold, windows open when we shower, use a dehumidifier when I have to dry washing indoors but nothing seems to help.

Does anyone have any other tips I haven’t thought of yet ? It’s starting to get really irritating now !!

Spider plants....i have a few in my living room and there is still condensation but no where near as much

Does the dehumidifier say what the % moisture is?

sashh · 15/01/2024 10:16

Make sure the vents are open, mine are above the windows and opening them has gone from using a window vac every morning and not needing to use them.

And most days I do not have the heating on.

Do you open your windows? I have to open mine for ten or fifteen minutes every morning or the windows are soaking.

Is it double glazed/UPVC or wood/sash?
How old are the windows and are there gaps.

My windows used to be like this because they were sash and old, gaps, glass loose on one in particular šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø which was not only dangerous, but letting in more cold.

You are doing many of the things that are recommended.

They’re double glazed UPVC - think they are quite old though so maybe we need to get them replaced

Try keeping the dehumidifier on for a couple of days constantly
Note the humidity and see what extra it pulls out of the walls
It's really surprising
Obviously that won't solve the windows.
I have a dehumidifier and it makes such a difference and doesn't cost much to run

aname1234 · 15/01/2024 14:50

Better dehumidifer? but don't go cheap. I got one for £250. it changed my life.

Powerstruggle01 · 15/01/2024 14:56

@aname1234 do you need one in each room ? I could stretch to a more ££ one but definitely not for every room
