If a recipe says casserole pan

is that the same as a casserole dish? Like this https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8373193?clickPR=plp:1:78
or does it mean you have to leave the lid off the casserole dish when you put it in the oven?

Yes, same thing, it’s a casserole. Pan, dish, pot, Dutch oven… they all mean a relatively deep cooking container you can use both on the hob and in the oven, and has a lid.

So when it says "pan" it doesn't mean I should leave the lid off in the oven?

But yes, a casserole pan and a casserole dish are exactly the same thing. It’s got nothing to do with covered or uncovered, they are synonyms for that type of cooking vessel.

Ok, thanks, had a sudden worry as it was in the oven. Recipe didn't specify covered or uncovered.
