vasectomy recovery? (standard surgery, not keyhole)

DH is booked for a vasectomy with the NHS next week, we've just learned it's the traditional method (two incisions, stitched) rather than the apparently less invasive keyhole method.

DH is going to have to drive home afterwards, is that really stupid? is he going to bust his stitches or something? He's adamant he'll be fine, but I'm a little worried.

Grateful for any advice/experiences of recovery, thank you

I don’t think he’d be allowed to drive right after even if he felt capable he would not be insured. If he has swelling and pain or numbness he might not be able to brake in time etc.

He will get a leaflet with the info but am sure it isn’t allowed for 24-48 hours

My DH would not have been able to drive (though he has a previous injury that made it much worse for him I think). He was flinching and gripping to the handle at every slight bump in the road and could hardly get up the stairs afterwards.

No he won't be able to drive.

Can't drive. There's a lot of pressure put on the area from the pedals. Do not let him do anything for a bit as complications can change it from an awkward couple of days to an absolute nightmare for a week or two.

Not allowed to drive.

however, for my husband he felt totally fine by the next morning, minimal bruising and swelling.
