Strange eBay seller

Browsing eBay for a stretchy tube skirt, I found an ordinary Dorothy Perkins one for…£288.88
I assumed it was a typo but looked at their other items for sale and most of them are also £288.88 - but these are VERY ordinary things, supermarket clothing, jeans, asos…

You can make an offer but just wondering what on earth is the point of listing things for £££. The seller has good feedback so it obviously works. What does it mean??

That link takes me to a size 12 pink skirt for £12

The seller must have corrected it! Earlier, it was something mad like £1400 😁

Sadly, according to some training I went to, this is one way that people sell abuse images - there are certain tags/names that are known to those circles. Not saying that’s the case here but it happens. I’d report it

Woah. That’s awful. I knew there was something dodgy about that seller.

…not saying it’s THAT but there has to be more to it.
Unless people really do buy River Island tops for £348.88

I have seen second hand very ordinary paperbacks listed for hundreds - Always assumed a mistake?

Abuse images would make 'angel number' make more sense.

Well, somebody paid her/him £128 for a "Black Grey Pink Check Cheque Chequered Tartan Button Knit Rib Bomber Jacket" which, going by the rest of the feedback & listings, was probably worth £30 max 😄

I should try this. I absolutely bloody hate listing items for sale, and am sitting on a backlog. I'd only need one "buy it now" hit to make it seem worthwhile!

There's also the scam where they intentionally send something defective and hope a certain percentage of people won't bother to return

Nice story for you, @BangTody. It's very old and has been many times around - it is true; they were my client back in the day.

One of their products was a cure for premature ejaculation. It didn't work but came with a no-quibble money back guarantee, so what's to lose?

When customers returned their purchase, the company duly sent a refund cheque. The cheque was prominently printed with "PREMATURE EJACULATION TREATMENT". Or words to that effect, you get the idea.

Few of the cheques were ever cashed.
