How can I get stains off a brand new baby mattress

Second time they've come delivered with the packaging ripped and black marks on, I'm presuming from the van... pissed off but not returning again because this could keep going on and on !!
What's the best way to get the stains out ? I don't want to soak the mattress because I worry I won't get it dry properly in this weather and then mould might grow, and also can't use anything strong as it's for a baby. Any tips ?

Does the mattress have a zip on it? Some of the foam ones have a cover on them that can be taken off and washed.

Failing that, I'd probably just put a mattress protector on it. The baby won't be able to touch the marks and it won't ruin the mattress if the baby has a nappy leak.

No it doesn't have a zip unfortunately. I was thinking if I just use a damp sponge to wipe them off the best I can, then the sheet will be over them anyways won't it

Damp sponge or cloth with a bit of washing up liquid, but honestly, I would not bother. Give it 6 months and you’ll be 😬 at everything that soaks into that mattress. I really wouldn’t worry about a few non-smelly marks.

Honestly, get a couple of waterproof mattress protectors, then you’ll never have to worry about anything from either side.
