We are going in half term as a family (DH, 7DD and 11DS). Does anyone have any recommendations as hoping to put a loose itinerary together?
TIA

All I will say is don't let the kids loose in Captain Candy unless you're feeling very rich! No itinerary advice I'm afraid as I was there for work but thought I'd grab DS some nice pick n mix...

Noted, thank you!

Seriously though it's a lovely city and I plan to return this year with my family. I'd definitely be heading down the coast to Benalmadena for a day to the tourist beach thing, the cathedral is lovely and there are loads of good restaurants.

Take a bus up to the fort, visit it, then walk DOWN. Great views and nice walk when going DOWN. Then pop into the Alcazaba for a very atmospheric garden. They did a 2 site ticket deal when I went.

Roman theatre ruins are interesting - small exhibition there too.
Food market (indoor) is a sight and has amazing seafood bars within it.
Picaso museum.
Cathedral.
Decent shopping.

Go to the Interactive Music museum, it’s very cheap and the kids will like it.

I too was going to recommend the amazing food market Atarazanas for a walk around. There are lots of things in the 'city' itself to walk around and see- museums, the castle etc. There is also a lovely park to sit and have a picnic.

For a day trip, you can get the train to Ronda to see the famous bridge. Lovely restaurants and things to see there too.

Not for the kids but the hamam andaluz spa baths are amazing!

The harbour front has a big prom with ships and walkway, mine liked walking round there. Theres a beach in the city too just behind the harbourfront.

All sounds great!

If you want a lovely meal then I recommend Asador Inaki

The Picasso Museum is nice and there is a branch of the Pompidou there as well. And loads of castles and Roman sites. All kept my two DC entertained for a few days.

If you are staying in Malaga itself, there is a bus from the airport entrance (Line A express) which has several stops in Malaga. Pre-covid, it was 3euro each and very easy to navigate. With kids/luggage, a taxi might be easier, but its something to consider.
