My kid is always sick!

My kid had a bout of throwing up/diarrhoea end of November - but there was a lot of stomach bugs going around at that time.

Then again with horrendous sick and diarrhoea 10 days later.

Then he woke up on Christmas Eve throwing up multiple times.

And now he's just woke up this morning saying he's hot, chesty and about to throw up.

I can't deal with it anymore! I can't deal with more time off school and constantly losing money Sad

A few things you can look at.

  1. A multivitamin.
  2. Diet - its hard but try and get lots of fruit and veg in the diet.
  3. Hand washing and general hygiene. How old is your child? I'm thinking early primary school? At this age they still go round licking things and need reminding not to do it and to wash hands before eating and after using the loo.
  4. Talk to the school and ask them to remind everyone not to send their child in until 48 hours after the last loose stool/vomit. So many people think ah my kids fine now and it's been 48 hours since it started..

@planetarynoodle yes, thank you!

We do use a multivitamin but don't know if they range in best ones/worst ones (we just use a generic supermarket one).

Hand washing definitely needs to be more. He's 6, and definitely doesn't think to all the time.

Kids of 5 and 6 get things all the time as they are building their immunity. It will get better!!

Hand washing with soap is the most effective - so is cleaning door handles and stair rails!

I’d say don’t bother with the multivitamin and instead overhaul his diet and make sure he is getting all the nutrients and vitamins he needs. Much more effective than a multivitamin and some studies suggest they don’t work at all. Also handwashing and general hygiene. Am assuming he is at school- you could try doing a bath when he gets home every night and washing clothing etc v frequently although this might only have a negligible effect! It’s hard but diet and hygiene are most likely to help x

It does seem very frequent.

Is there any possibility it could be something he is eating that is causing the vomiting & diarrhoea? maybe a food intolerance or allergies?

Did it get any better? I know it's an old thread
