Family hotel Easter break ideas Uk

We’re in UK before Easter for a family wedding the weekend after.
Decided to add a few days to make a family holiday but now I don’t know where to go!
please suggest hotels rather than just town/city places.
We will have a car.
Probably not London as will stay over summer and have a car - but could do a town where we could get train into London?
Am looking for some ideas of where to visit/stay.

We will arrive in Liverpool Holy Friday, before Easter Sunday.

The wedding is the following Saturday in North Yorkshire.
So where to go/do for a week!!
We have DC 8/10 years.

Ideally I’d love a nice reasonably priced hotel for first 3 nights, over Easter and then an apartment/air b &b for the other nights.
Has anyone any hotel ideas - really with things to do, pool, kids club / disco would be amazing, decent pool etc

We live in the middle of nowhere in the deepest countryside so busy bustling towns/cities/holiday park/theme park/museums/life is what we’re after 😉

I guess it’s a premium time over Easter, cost wise - maybe we should do apartment over bank holiday days then hotel?

We are hiring a car and will travel anywhere within reason.
Where would you stay??
All ideas so appreciated

Centre Parks do short breaks and there's loads to do. There's one in the Lake District. Also Edinburgh is easy to get to from North Yorkshire. We stayed at an aparthotel a few years ago which was only 30 minutes walk from the castle. I can't remember the name of it.
The weather can be a bit iffy at Easter particularly when it's the end of March. We had relatives from Greece one Easter and had thick snow!

Look at York - fantastic place with loads for kids

If you're feeling a bit flush The Grove, Watford might tick a few boxes. Alternatively, how about a holiday park type thing. Centerparcs, or Haven?

York is a good shout. Lots to do within the city and a few good days out if you have the car. We recently visited and stayed at a Premier Inn near the centre.

I think it depends where you’re from.
center parcs I really love but it’s quite countryside like. I’m from down south an hour outside London.
Harry Potter studios if you’re around London way for a day?
Alton Towers if you’re up north?! They have a ‘water park’, 2 hotels plus theme park
or chessington/Thorpe park if down south

York is a good shout but attractions may be closed Easter Sunday - check before you book a hotel, I stayed at the holiday inn in a family room.

Another often would be a city like Manchester as people don't tend to go there for holidays in the same way - but again remember about closures Easter Sunday (it's the only Sunday shops can't open now). I like Liverpool too, so many interesting places to see.

Oh and flamingo land in Yorkshire is a good option

Potters resort in Norfolk do family breaks over the school holiday. They include all food and drinks plus all activities which you can book - they have a pool there as well and evening entertainment.

We've done a few trips with family there and our DC similar ages have loved it. Favourites have been segways, laser clay shooting, mini karts, giant swing.

It also has loads of outdoor space if you're lucky with the weather and they even have a small sandy beach

NewYear24 · 14/01/2024 22:52

Do you think your DC would like Alton Towers or how about Oxford or Cambridge?

Abbyant · 14/01/2024 23:40

Liverpool has a lot of nice hotels and over the Easter holidays there’s usually an indoor funfair as well as lots of museums and other interesting things to do.

Thanks so much for the suggestions.

Am thinking do the Easter weekend in Manchester or somewhere on outskirts.

Then 4/5 days in York/Harrogate or that general area.

Stayed in The Grove pre children days but not in budget for this stay sadly. We’re not Centrepark fans but thank you for the suggestions and will look up potters resort for another time.

Has anyone any actual hotel or apartments/cottage rental recommendations?

Air B&b type rental might be
best so we have a bit of space and can make the odd meal there. I’d a one bedroom apartment with good reviews picked out in Manchester, Wildes, but was extra 150 for closest parking 🙄
