Having to translate a document for work from portuguese to English, google translate has done a lot of the heavy lifting for me, but theres a few things that may be abbreviations so not picking up properly...

Any idea what 'Açucar bco.bs/und' might be? Ive worked out that açucar is sugar, but not sure on the rest!

Then what would 'abobora moscada' be? I think that abobora is pumpkin, but cant figure out the second word...

Any Portuguese speakers, any help would be great!

I'm portuguese and have no idea!! Moscada would go with noz to make nutmeg. No idea what it means next to abóbora!

Is it portuguese from Brasil?

LaCerbiatta · 10/01/2024 16:41

ok bco is probably branco = white
und may be unidade = unit
bs looks like it may be brown sugar (mascavado)

LaCerbiatta · 10/01/2024 16:43

And Google tells me abobora moscada is just a normal pumpkin.
In portuguese from Portugal would be abóbora menina. So this is definitely from Brasil

What would 'cong.' Be an abbreviation for at the end of quite a few products?

cong. - could it be frozen? Short for congelado? I'm trying to think of food related words :D

ChatterMonkey · 10/01/2024 17:22

Frozen would make a lot of sense, thank you!!

What would 'Carne Bovino Patinho' be?

Google is suggesting it might be beef duckling but that doesnt sound right... it looks like some sort of cut of beef?

OP posts:
LaCerbiatta · 10/01/2024 19:43

I would guess beef from a brand called 'patinho'

LaCerbiatta · 10/01/2024 19:45

Shouldn't have guessed without googling. It's indeed a cut. It's from the back of the cow and meant to be very lean and versatile....
