We have been invited to dinner at a neighbours’ house next week and it’s her birthday the same day. I’d like to get her something for her birthday (already bringing wine and brownies for the meal) but am finding it difficult to decide what to get:
-I don’t know her very well
-She’s a florist (so, flowers not a good idea)
-She has told me she doesn’t have a sweet tooth (chocolates not a good idea)
-She has eczema so I assume handcream bad idea
-We will be bringing wine for the meal so champagne might be superfluous

Any ideas?

Candle?
Herb(s) in pots to grow on the kitchen windowsill?
Cheese?

Maybe a bit naff but what about a nice candle? There's such a wide range so you could get one as extravagant as you wish! Agree it's hard if you don't know her that well and sounds like a lot of the standard options are already ruled out! Or how about take just brownies for the meal and an extra nice bottle of wine for the gift?

I'd still take champagne.

Do you know anything about her other interests & hobbies?

Perhaps a personalised gift - notebook or diary maybe. Something which she will be able to use but not something that is short term use or she does not need. I use a England based company - https://www.colourcalendars.gifts/ who have been amazing with products for my friends and family. The best quality products which they are bound to love!
