What would you do for your 40th? (If you didn't like flying?)

It's in November.

My youngest will be 13. Eldest 21 so could do a few nights away but hate flying so would have to be UK. Which will be pretty miserable in Nov.

I want something to mark the occasion but I don't want a party. Absolutely not.

I don't wear jewellery, not a single piece.

I have enough shoes. I'm not into designer stuff.

Feeling a bit stumped.

I have to tell DH as he's pretty useless at birthdays and needs it spelling out to him.

Drive over to Europe or get the Eurostar. Alternatively, get help for your anxiety. You’re missing out on a lot if you limit yourself to UK only holidays.

I've been to France, various areas of Spain, Canada, Turkey, Dublin, Greece. All by plane.

But I hate it. And I want to enjoy my birthday so I'd rather not have a flight looming.

I went to a Michelin restaurant with DH for a very boozy lunch without the children. It was superb and the lunch I chose was the best thing I've still ever eaten.

I shuddered at the idea of celebrating en masse.

I'd look at UK spas. I love going to a spa in the winter, esp one with a fire and an outside jacuzzi'

A nights stay at Ke Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons. It sublime and a real luxury treat.

I have a November birthday and detest flying. It's my 50th this year. Having a birthday in November is awful so possibly thinking about a cruise from Southampton

For my 40th surprisingly still in November 👀 we hired a Camper. It was amazing being out in it in Winter. Star spotting. Ate out at lovely restaurants and got snuggled up in stunning locations and views with snow topped mountains.

UK weekend away in nice hotel. Theatre trips or something artsy if you like doing that.
