How to recycle candle jars

Things like Yankee candles. I've used lots of these but invariably there's candle wax left inside that I can't remove. Can I recycle them as is?

Anyone know any other places to recycle other than my recycling bin?

Thanks.

You can pour boiling water in and jostle with a knife to lift remaining wax and wick out!

I just put the jars in a bigger bowl and pour boiling water round it to melt the wax it then comes out easily. I would then recycle via the bottle bank? Or reuse by putting another candle inside?

In the same vein, does anyone reuse mini kilner jars? I have a few from buying naice pate for Christmas. Is it worth donating them to a charity shop?

Stick the jar in a freezer for a few hours, then the wax will pop out with a small tap on a chopping board or a jab with a knife.

I saw a single killer jar for sale in a charity shop for £1.50 last week, so I guess they accept them to sell. Or offer on Freecycle.

Thanks. Charry it is then, as DH doesn't want 'odd people coming to the house'.😀

Keep the proper jars people and make chutney or jam!!

Boiling water in the candle jar definitely works! It floats to the top (and basically becomes a lava lamp) and then you can run a knife round the edge and lift it out. If there’s any still at the bottom when the water has cooled but the wax is still soft you can do the same thing with the knife and it just comes out in a big disc. It’s very satisfying!

I stand the jar in a pan of boiling water and then when the wax melts I use it to make smaller layered candles in a jam jar or similar. Can buy wicks on eBay/amazon/ hobby craft.
