Phone not connecting to network!

Is there anyone technically minded out there? I got a new phone this week (upgrade from o2 online). It came with a new SIM so I put that in but it wouldn't connect to the o2 network. OK fine so I put my old SIM in while I could figure it out but that wouldn't connect either (despite working in my old phone!). Rang 202 and they said they would activate the new SIM but that didn't work. Went to the o2 shop yesterday and they said they didn't know why it wasn't connecting but it looked like maybe it hadn't been activated (?!) so they would issue a new one. Only this one is not connecting either! They told me to reset mobile network settings but that hasn't done anything. It seemed to work for about 10 minutes with the newest SIM but then disconnected and now I don't know how to reconnect!

Anyone got any idea? It's driving me bonkers! I finally got myself a decent phone after years of shitty cheap ones and I'm the worst off I've ever been!

I've just has a quick Google as I'm not sure but wanted to help. Have you gone to swapmysim.o2.co.uk and activated your new sim card? Have you tried turning airplane mode on and off? I hope you get sorted soon

Sounds like a phone issue not a sim issue because your old sim didn’t work, despite working in your old phone. You’ve tried 3 sims in it and none of them have worked.

My next step would be to contact the place that issued the new phone and say it’s faulty and get a replacement.

If the place you got it from was the o2 shop that you said you had gone in already, it’s not good enough for them to shrug and say they don’t know why it’s not working, they need to replace it. You are paying for a service/you have bought a product which is faulty. Get another one from them and stay in the shop while they put the sim in and confirm it’s all in working order.

Firstly, it's important to rule out potential issues step by step. Here are some suggestions to help you resolve the connectivity problem:

SIM Card Activation:

Make sure the new SIM card is properly activated. Confirm with your service provider that the activation process has been completed successfully.
Double-check if there are any specific activation instructions provided by O2 for the new SIM card. Sometimes, they may require additional steps.
Network Settings:

Since you mentioned that resetting mobile network settings had a temporary effect, let's explore this further.
Go to your phone's settings and find the option to reset network settings. This will revert network settings to their default configurations.
After the reset, restart your phone and check if the connectivity issue persists.
Network Mode:

Ensure that your phone is set to the correct network mode. Go to your phone's network settings and select the appropriate network mode (e.g., 4G, 3G, 2G).
Try switching between different network modes to see if any of them provide a stable connection.
Check for Updates:

Make sure your phone's operating system and O2 carrier settings are up-to-date. Check for any available updates and install them.
An outdated system or carrier settings could potentially cause connectivity issues.
Phone Compatibility:

Verify that your new phone is compatible with O2's network. You can check this information on O2's website or contact their customer support for assistance.
Contact O2 Support Again:

If the issue persists after trying the above steps, it's essential to reach out to O2 support again. Provide them with detailed information about the troubleshooting steps you've taken and the persisting problem.
SIM Card Slot:

Ensure that the SIM card is inserted correctly into the phone's SIM card slot. Sometimes, improper insertion can lead to connectivity issues.
Temporary Network Issues:

Check if there are any temporary network issues in your area. O2 might be experiencing service interruptions, and these issues are usually temporary.
