As the title says, anyone used the app? Looks very good, and I wouldn't mind a few pennies/pounds plus a nice clear out.
Is it really as straightforward as it seems?

Not webuybooks, but I have used Ziffit. It was completely straightforward. I got some shelf space back, plus a little extra cash!

Yes. Have used 'we buy books'. It works exactly as they say it does, and I would recommend.

Yes, many times - highly recommend!

It’s a company local to me, I know a lot of the staff etc. It’s a brilliant little place and really easy to use. Would also recommend!!!!

I've used them a few times, great service and they always transfer the money within a few days.

I've just looked and I don't understand how it's worth it? They've offered 20p for a hardback book from last year that I've just spend £10 on. Obviously never going to offer loads but you've have to get rid of 100 books just to make £20?!

OhpoorMe · 07/01/2024 08:56

And they don't collect - is that right?

Cookerhood · 07/01/2024 08:56

It varies enormously what they give you. Some books they don't want at all, but I've sold a few through them.

@OhpoorMe

Yes I agree , unless you have a very big pile of fairly recently published titles , you are not going to make very much at all .
I'd rather give them to a charity shop in the hope it will help them.

It depends what books you have. I sold some of my old computer books, non fiction books (on an unusual hobby) books in heathy eating and bird watching. Prices were from 50p to £3.50 a book. There were several small boxes of books and I made about £100.

I tried again with my mother in law's extensive collection of romance paperbacks. Most were 'we are but currently buying this book" and a handful were 20p. I took them all to a car boot sale where they sold like hot cakes for 50p each or 3 for £1.

A word of warning though. The price they give must be based on an algorithm based on what has been searched for. I once put in a book and got a good price then accidentally scanned it again and it was lower. Also once accidentally deleted my basket (hadn't logged in first) and the rescanned prices were much lower (I gave up and waited a month or two until prices were high again or I had forgotten what the original high price was so didn't care so much!)
