Airfryer liners/accessories?

ThreeBeanChilli · 06/01/2024 13:40

I'm picking up an airfryer this afternoon (ninja 7.6 dual).

I think I need silicon liners? Do I need anything else? Does it matter which ones?

Amazon has packs with other bits in. Do I need other bits?

Thankyou 😁

I find the liners useless as they just collapse during cooking. Silicone baskets are handy and save on washing but are a bit small. I don't usually line mine with anything because the baskets are so easy to wash.

MadamVastra · 06/01/2024 13:54

Honestly don't bother! The baskets go in the dishwasher or can be hand washed really easily

wizzywig · 06/01/2024 13:55

I hate hate hate the silicon baskets as they are so floppy. I like the paper liners though

ThreeBeanChilli · 06/01/2024 14:00

Ooh this is really helpful thankyou.

I'd read somewhere the baskets last longer if you line them (can I replace the baskets if not?!

So just put food in direct?

I think I want to try egg bites so might get some silicon cupcake holders.

Any suggestions of first things to cook in it??

So many things! My favourites are:

Roast potatoes
Whole chicken
Scones
Yorkshire pudding
Sausages
Burgers

And it's so good for reheating anything you want to stay crisp.

ThreeBeanChilli · 06/01/2024 14:09

So does grease drip through? It looks like th baskets have holes in?

The silicon baskets/liners in my mind would contain anything that drips?

Agree the liners are useless

ThreeBeanChilli · 06/01/2024 14:34

Silicon baskets are liners aren't they?

I thought it protected the basket form grease buildup.

There are disposable liners made of greaseproof paper - those are the ones that collapse.

I use a silicone basket for cooking a couple of fish fingers or something in as they do keep the main basket clean and then I put the silicone one in the dishwasher, but as a pp said they are a bit floppy and get very hot so you have to handle them carefully.

The advantage of the silicone baskets is they can be used in the microwave eg for defrosting food, then straight into the air fryer for cooking.

ThreeBeanChilli · 06/01/2024 15:12

Are there airfryer shaped trays i should be getting then?

I'm curious about silicon fairy cake cases too for egg.

Also cleaning in general... what do I need to know?

The Facebook groups are all very anti dishwashing the drawers.... Anyone got longer term experience of that? Hand washing is already annoying me! (Foodi Flexdrawer)

ThreeBeanChilli · 06/01/2024 15:37

Really? I think the ninja 7.6 drawers are dishwasher safe?

Do you need ti wipe underneath each time? How do you actually clean the airfryer?

OP posts:
ThreeBeanChilli · 06/01/2024 15:42

So just seen where I'm going wrong...

I thought the ninja baskets had holes in them. That's the "crisper tray". The bottom of the basket doesn't actually have holes 😂.

So.whats a crisper tray?!

I like the silicon liners :)

I work shifts and we have two teenagers 16-18. It’s very rare we’re all in to eat at the same time so the liners mean we can all use the air fryer as and when without fighting over who needs to wash it so the next person can use it 😂

Means I shove the liners in the dishwasher at the end of the day, rinse out the drawers, and all done.

the drawers are dishwasher safe but I think it will shorten the life as they have a non stick coating.

i have these Silicone Air Fryer Liner for... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0C54KFYV4?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Northernsouloldies · 06/01/2024 15:58

I find the basket /tray an absolute bastard to clean, even with bicarb and vinegar then boiling water. Any tips would be appreciated.

The tray basically sits a centimetre above the bottom of the drawer and lets the air circulate round the whole thing, not just the top.

I've got the same one as you're getting and cleaning the drawers is so easy. We handwash to make them last but they're very easy to clean.

Ambi · 06/01/2024 16:01

I use foil for greasy foods like bacon or burgers or smelly foods like fish. I have paper liners too that I use for drier foods.

Mothew · 06/01/2024 16:28

Calling them baskets does suggest holes doesn't it! But they're more like saucepans really.

I don't always use the crisper plates, there's more space without them and if you turn the food over a couple of times it will cook fine.

ThreeBeanChilli · 06/01/2024 16:46

So I've ordered paper liners, cheap silcon baskets and some little fairy cases.

I'm going to hand-wash not dishwasher.

And just waiting for kids to be home to "unbox" 😁

Presumably you can't use the crisper plates if you have the silicon baskets in?

Do most people do most things with crisper plates in?

Sgtmajormummy · 06/01/2024 16:54

I hand wash the metal baskets and use Oven Pride spray (5 minutes, it’s corrosive!) when the inside corners get a bit gunky.

Recently I forgot some baking paper inside after cooking, switched it back on and the paper flew up to the heating element and caught fire!
I won’t be doing that again.

Vitriolinsanity · 06/01/2024 17:42

Let any fat congeal in the tray then peel it out. Very satisfying.

My Ninja dual is the easiest thing in my kitchen to clean.

Get some good tongs!

Bottle of oil spray.

ThreeBeanChilli · 06/01/2024 17:54

Tonges? To get the food out?

Oil spray? I've got a bottle of olive oil...

I'm feeling like I don't know things!

So.... we've gone straight to beige foods (Autistic child 2 wants to be able tk do this herself so this was a win)

Googling recipes for salmon.

Internal temperature?! Do I need a thermometer??
