Nappy pants

Hi mums,
my twins are tens months this month and I’ve posted on here before about the fact that they don’t sleep….ever 🤮 but recently they’ve woken very early in the morning with leaky nappies. This doesn’t surprise me as trying to put nappies on them at this stage is like wrestling a wild sheep 🤦‍♀️ I use pampers 4+ overnight but I was considering switching to nappy pants. Just for night time. I wondering if the waistband will be tight enough? FTM so I’ve no idea about these things 🙈 do you’s think I’ll have less leaks? Do you think they’ll fit them ok?

Hi @Kaxford

My DS is 10months and he's in Tesco pull ups size 5+ as he started leaking out of 4+ nappies. He's not technically the weight for what it says on the pack but he's quite chubby Grin so this size fit him really well! Definitely give pull ups a go, I think the size range is bigger on them, so you could always try 4+ in them and see how you get on and switch to size up if needed.
Also some solidarity with the fact that your babies don't sleep, I'm in the same boat. It's so tough Flowers

halfshutknife · 06/01/2024 08:22

Are the twins boys or girls?
I never had this issue with my girl but it's been bad with the boy.
I found nappy pants and size up helped and using a loose vest or a vest without poppers. It also depended which way the wind blew that night🤦🏼‍♀️

Kaxford · 06/01/2024 08:34

They sleep in baby grows and I make sure they aren’t too small, in fact we just switched all their baby’s grows to 6-9 months cos the 3-6 we’re getting a bit wee 🙈 I think they are leaning because getting them on is a fight plus the fact they are up and down all night 🙈 so you think size up and not down?

I found nappy pants better at that stage, they seem to allow for more wiggling rather than just twisting and then leaking like taped nappies. Give it a try!

Kaxford · 06/01/2024 08:36

Oh stop 🙈 they were a bit better last night but I’d say that was down to sheer exhaustion more than anything else 🙈 I locked myself out of the bloody house with them yesterday because I was just walking round like a zombie 😂

Yeah size up. They might look big but the kinda elastic bit underneath will still sit flush. I do think gender plays a huge part. I find boys only wet the front of the nappy.

PeeblesPobble · 07/01/2024 20:21

I would try a different brand, I think they all fit slightly differently so it's trial and error. I actually find Sainsbury's better for leaks than Pampers. It also may be that one brand might suit one and another brand the other if they're a different shape.

They could also be too big or small, again it's trial and error unfortunately.

My ten month old has 5+ nappies
do you think a bigger size might help

Kaxford · 08/01/2024 02:49

I don’t know anything about girls nappies but they do be very full at the front alight 🙈 not helped by the fact my lads sleep on their tummy’s 😂

One of my friends used a liner inside the nappy. I never went down that route.

My girl leaked occasionally but my boy was virtually every day. We could only use pampers with both of them which was/is very expensive. We've now found the Tesco ?flo and Fred not too bad. Since he was leaking in pampers for a while there I figured I'd rather pay less for the hassle. He also likes to rearrange himself 🤦🏼‍♀️ which doesn't help. Apparently you should have it pointing down.l

MadMadamMimz · 08/01/2024 12:29

I have found that sizing up usually solves issues with leaking. I completely ignore the suggested weight on the sizing.

Kaxford · 08/01/2024 16:22

It’s just getting them on them now that they are so mobile 🤦‍♀️ getting ready for bed is like the best game ever 😂 were wrecked after wrestling them into nappies and jammies though!! I find both boys very bad for leaking maybe it is a boy thing? We went the pampers route but just for overnight so it wasn’t too bad but I forgot to get them when I was in tesco the other day so I went with the Aldi nanny pants and they aren’t too bad. I will probably get the pampers ones though next time

I found that double nappying mostly works. I use a pampers underneath, then one of their usual Tesco ones over the top at night. I fold down the waist band of the pampers so that the top one covers over it well.

Olika · 08/01/2024 17:15

I am double nappying at night. I put the usual tape nappy first and then nappy pant over.

halfshutknife · 08/01/2024 22:28

Didn't think about a double dunter! If our problem re occurs I might do that. I found the dark blue pampers packet the best but think they've stopped them.

OhwhyOY · 09/01/2024 00:08

Sizing up often helps but my very slim 7 month old is in size 5 Pampers because he is so long, and some nights he still leaks too. Depends how much night feeding he's been doing. Definitely notuce his nappies are full at the front and not the back unlike with my DD where a nappy wouldn't leak unless absolutely full all round.

Also was super confused that your 10 month olds were in 3-6 baby gros until my brain caught up with them being twins. My son is going into 12-18 clothes now but they are so baggy it looks like I've starved him to death Sad

Scottishdreams1991 · 09/01/2024 01:18

So slightly different but ny ds8 is in nappies still ( disability) He used to leak all over his bed including his mattress

The best solution is changing nappy around midnight and not using one too big. Vast majority use nappies that are too big. if dc are in 6-9 clothing a size 3 or 4 would do

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 09/01/2024 01:56

@Scottishdreams1991 I agree with this. My 3yr old is in size 6 and my almost 2yr old is in size 5 at night and 4+ in the day.
Leaks can be caused by too big a nappy and we had to size down a couple of times with DD to solve the issue.

My DS has started leaking at night now we've changed to pampers nappy pants. Going to go back to the cheaper own brands.
