Hosting 4 adults 5 kids - what would you dish up?

Friends are coming over for the evening soon with their kids.
1 adult is a veggie, The other is fairly bland in their tastes. Doesn't like veg!
The kids are fairly standard, no allergies or intense dislikes.
I'm thinking pizzas so everyone can just pick what they like, served with lots of sides but is that boring?! Any other ideas welcome!

I reckon fajitas with a variety of toppings. Pizza is easy but you’re back and forth to the oven a lot and fajitas are more versatile.

my fussy dd when younger would have just had plain chicken, cheese and Doritos in a wrap 😂

I think I’d do macaroni cheese garlic bread and a nice salad

I’d feed the children first, meatballs and pasta ina tomato save with garlic bread.
then feed the adults something different (the fussy non-veg one can always have the kids meal - but later?
the other thing I find works for big mixed groups is roast chicken, squashed new potatoes, gravy and veg.

Good pizza doesn't need to be boring, I make my own dough (bread maker I'm not a martyr) and use red pesto, goats cheese, mozzarella, red peppers, red onion and rocket for the veggies (and me) then pepperoni, mozzarella, onion and pepper for the goats cheese haters

Lasagne or chilli (one meat and one veg) were my first though

or moussaka

littlemousebigcheese · 05/01/2024 19:48

I wouldn't risk lasagne unless you're happy to do a smooth sauce with no onion chunks!

I always do pizzas, pasta bakes and salads for this type of thing
