Stre throat, sinusitis and I slept on and off for hours and hours for days on end, today is first day in three weeks that I have felt remotely normal.

In that time I tested for Covid five times every time negative, I felt so bad I was sure it had to be.

I have not had Covid, so I was convinced that no one could feel this poorly without it being Covid.

Was I the only one.

Not the same as you, but I had a throat infection and extreme tiredness at beginning of December for about 12 days. The tiredness wore off to some extent, but I've been really tired ever since, only started to feel totally myself three days ago. About a week into my throat infection, my DH had a cold (said it was as bad as when he had covid and felt like it had it). I did four covid tests and DH did three, all negative.

We had a year of trying to avoid others and for quite a few avoiding people we know with colds and flu. The only problem with that is, I think it's hitting some of us harder when we do get something.

Started with sore throat and cough Dec 20th, still got the cough, tiredness, headache, snotty nose now. Negative for Covid.
Friend had Covid mid December, was negative a week later and all signs and symptoms gone.

And tea tastes weird. Coffee ok but tea 🤢

Yes! I can't drink coffee so only drink tea, and it doesn't taste right. Best description I can give is that it tastes too bitter. I've started - for the first time in my life - to add half a teaspoon of sugar to my tea, to make it palatable.

DH reports that coffee tastes weird too.

VaddaABeetch · 05/01/2024 11:04

That’s weird, I had a dose & can’t drink tea either. It tastes horrible. Usually I love my tea & have to limit the amount I drink. C

Been ill since October. Now much better with regards to cough symptoms, but so fatigued if I do anything, even a short walk makes me need to rest for about twice as long. I think I had a succession of things, but started like this. There is whooping cough going around which I read is now being called 100 day cough because of how long it lasts. But it also makes sense that if you are ill with one thing, you may catch other things at this time of year.

Thehonestbadger · 05/01/2024 11:18

Ooooh we had this exact thing
sinusitis, temperature, shivers and sweats
total exhaustion and lack of appetite.

we didn’t even make Christmas dinner, entire fridge of food including turkey crown had to be frozen! It wiped out out 23/12-01/01 completely.

wasn’t covid as we had it in November and did test multiple times over Christmas, all negative

Cosycover · 05/01/2024 11:18

Yep I was ill over Christmas and just starting to feel better.

And weirdly I now can't eat chocolate. I love chocolate. I tried to eat some and had to spit it out. All my longing for chocolate has just completely gone. It's very strange.

Footprintsinthesand · 05/01/2024 11:24

Yes! Started on 19th Dec just as I was logging off for annual leave and been floored until the beginning of this week when I went back to work! Started as a fever and horrendous cough, then went to my chest, then turned into sinusitis (which I've never had before and never want again!). I went to the walk in centre and they said it was a cold. It absolutely wasn't a cold! Took about 2 weeks but I'm more or less ok now.

FrancisSeaton · 05/01/2024 11:28

Had the same and was really struggling to breathe at one point although chest was clear. Tested negative although my gp said it sounds very much like covid and the most recent strain tends to avoid showing up on home tests

TooOldForThisNonsense · 05/01/2024 11:29

I was also floored by a horrible bug

also not Covid

Why are GPs coming out with this bollocks? I’ve known loads of people test positive on home tests recently. Presumably also with the “latest strain”.

Hope everyone starts to feel better soon . Unfortunately there seems to be lots of viruses etc doing the rounds now . I think I have had both . The flu/ virus at the start of December . It wasn't completely like flu in the past and my main issue was extreme fatigue / aches . Also had sore ears and a sore eye . Covid test negative .
Just before New Year I also got covid . The test came up positive straight away . Not as bad as the flu / viral but still fatigue / upset stomach/ sneezing etc . I was actually quite "pleased" that I had a positive test - as evidence of what it was . But obviously not pleased to be ill again ...

Coming back to this……

DS has a private number plate on his car (judge or don’t judge, not relevant to this thread)

I pulled in behind him this evening, I rang him from the drive and said when did your new number plates arrive…

Him….about a week ago…😱..I showed them to you, granted you were in bed poorly

Me …I have no recollection of that..

Him…I came down and said to Dad that I didn’t think you were on receive

Eight years ago I was off my head on morphine for months, and I have more recollection of that time than this virus.

Now, I haven’t been out of the house much since December 17th, but no recall…a bit boggled

Fucking scary.

Whisper it quietly…………..Eight weeks and I think five days and today I feel human. I went out to put something in the bin, wondered if the ironing lady had brought the ironing back, (leaving it in the shed started in Covid) last week or the week before I would have thought haven’t got the energy even if she has and not checked. Today I checked, sounds like a small thing but believe me it felt huge.

DS has rugby training straight after work tomorrow, so I offered to make the batter in advance, (seemingly he makes the best pancakes 🙄I neglected to point that I taught him 😁 anyways he accepted. Before I went to bed I got the pancake batter bowl and eggs for tomorrow a few weeks ago I would have been silently weeping that I had opened my mouth.

So hold hard fellow sufferers, improvements no matter how small are on the horizon.
