Steam mops- are they any good?

We have dogs, cats and kids, live on a farm and am struggling with the state of my slate kitchen floor. Like the idea of a steam mop but are they any good ? Are they up to a proper filthy floors or should i stick with the mop and bucket?

They’re Velcro on the back and just stick to velcro on the bottom of it, throw them in the washing machine or rinse out. I bought extra pads as the kitchen floor can get filthy some days between dogs, DH and employees coming in and out. I’m probably due another screaming hissy fit about boots on in the kitchen tbh 😂

When I had one it destroyed the laminate flooring, can imagine they're good for tiles though

I have the shark one with rotating heads and I love it. Gives my floors a really good clean

We have a dog and football mad kids so our floors get mucky and I love the steam mop. I put essential oil in the water for the nice scent!

I also have the shark flip mop I use it without the cover on steam the floor then mop it up with a flat mop and change the mop part on them. a few times per use to dry up the steam and prevent the spreading of dirty water effect you mention.

Is it safe/hygenic to wash the used floor pads with other washing (clothes etc)?

I wash mine in a cycle with other cleaning cloths, that way I can use a high temperature to make sure they all get really clean.
