Tomorrow I have to...

work in a hospital I really don't like. I've just moved trust, had no induction pretty much and even the most basic processes (such as mealtimes!!) are done a different way. They can't even tell me how I'm meant to get some fundamental training arranged (it's complicated but I can't "carry it over" from the previous trust). I keep telling myself to give the place time but I could cry tonight. I'm studying FT too and I'm so so tired.

I'm just venting here really, don't know what I really expect from the thread. I just don't want to moan irl when others have their own stuff to deal with in the wet bleak days of early January.

I will make a list of solutions but I just need this out.

That does sound hard. Is there a friendly member of the team who will show you the ropes?

Tomorrow I have to get back into the school routine so I am making sure all bags are packed up tonight, feed bag and feeding pump, all medications labelled and ready to go, syringes packed. The wheelchair has his sling already in situ etc, I just need to grab his wheelchair tray from the van then he should be good to go in the morning. School mornings are a rush as he needs his nebulizer and chest physio and can't have that 45 minutes before food or an hour after and he needs his anti reflux meds before food too. His taxi comes just before 8 so getting up to get everything done is always a mission.

I'm hoping for a good team tomorrow, asking questions/showing things also partly depends on how busy we are.

I can't even get hold of the sewing room. They issued me some faulty tunics which weren't obvious until they came out the bag. Sewing room's phone always goes to voicemail and you can't access them in person without calling in advance to arrange an escort as there is a sort of robot down there that moves along the floor and transports loads. Such a small thing but it just adds to the disorganised chaotic vibe.

Your mornings sound busy! Is your DC looking forward to going back to school though?

I can remember the sewing room battles when I was NHS! I hope you get some help with it all tomorrow.

I think he's looking forward to school but he is pre verbal and functions at around 6 - 12 months so it is impossible to know. He goes off to school in his taxi OK (he's usually gone back to sleep, medication side effect) but he's usually happy at school and happy when he gets home so I take that as a good sign!

We took our daughter to the walk in clinic where we live yesterday. It was the first day of the clinician we saw. She was really helpful, patient and kind to our daughter and we were incredibly grateful to her. She couldn't work the pc and had to have two different staff members come and help her, she couldn't find a stethoscope at first and didn't know where the prescription we needed was kept so had to go off to find it too. We didn't mind any of these things, I'm sure your patients won't either. We are all behind the NHS and just so glad that you are there and helping us. Thank you.
