Promise I’m not trolling - horrendous diarrhea at a relative’s

I actually think something’s properly wrong.

I’ve been on the toilet now for 48 hours, fever and feeling fuzzy and weird. BMs are literally just water, same consistency as when you have laxatives for colonoscopy.

I’ve been to the toilet 30+ times.

I’ve managed a glass of water tonight and two cups of tea, but can’t eat anything, even a tic tac earlier made me gag and run to the loo.

I’ve been here since 23rd, no one else is ill.

I had covid two weeks ago, was given prednisolone and amoxicillin and cocodamol for a week.

I’m also on a shedload of daily meds for mental health.

I did ring 111 earlier who said they thought it was the amoxicillin and said to avoid taking anti diarrhea meds but phone back if no better tomorrow.

I don’t want to give relative the gory details but I’m really, really struggling. I can’t move without worrying I’m going to shit myself. Started on the 31st at bedtime (so about 1am) and hasn’t stopped at all since.

It’s a good 4 hours home unfortunately otherwise I think relative would definitely drive me. Last episode was 3am, I’ve been sipping flat Pepsi since then. Rest of the house haven’t got it at all, and we’ve all eaten the exact same stuff. Absolutely exhausted, and very much not looking forward to the bus but hoping I just sleep. I’m seeing my GP surgery tomorrow anyway for a routine appt so if it’s still going then I’ll ring them.

Eat rice and banana great at sorting out diarrhea. I used to make baby rice with non cow's milk and mashed banana when the kids were little now I make rice pudding made with coconut milk and banana. Stay away from cows milk. You will feel a bit better after food and the immodium.

You may have to ask to stay another day. Hope you feel a bit better soon.

This sounds absolutely awful!
Can you go long enough without the loo for the journey? Sad

I think I'd try and get some tena pants for the journey. Will there be a loo on the coach? Please make sure you get some diaoralyite to rehydrate you and replenish what you have lost over the past few days.

4 hours journey? Do you have to go today or could you stay another night? I’d be worried about having to wait a long time to go to the toilet if you need it on the bus. Will there be a toilet on the bus?

Try some Yakult

Silverbirchtwo · 03/01/2024 09:10

You can make your own rehydration mix, this is one that seems to be common:

Fill a clean container that you can keep covered or tightly closed with 1 litre of “safe” boiled water. Add 6 teaspoons of sugar and ½ teaspoon of salt to the water and mix so that the sugar and salt dissolve. It's then ready to use. Take small, frequent sips throughout the day.

Some recommend adding other things.

CatPancake · 03/01/2024 10:01

Surely you cannot get a bus like that?

I was just about to suggest this. I use them on heavy AF days at night and it might help you stress a bit less if you have a safety net. Theyre basically like a lighter version of a nappy.

Good luck and hope you feel better soon!

I had something similar although without the fever symptoms and it was helicopactar virus

enoughisenough4 · 03/01/2024 10:24

Although agree it doesn't sound like you're ok enough to travel. I really don't think you have anything to be embarrassed about telling your relatives

promiseimnothetroll · 03/01/2024 13:03

Immodium in the middle of the night thankfully stopped it. Managed to hold onto some toast earlier and a cup of tea.

Cousin came through 6am said she’s hellishly unwell.

Sister then rang saying she’s same as is her housemate.

Noro then.

I’m wearing a mask and the bus is thankfully pretty empty.

Overthebow · 03/01/2024 13:04

You can’t travel on a bus with noro, you’ll give it to everyone. A mask won’t stop it.

NestaArcheron · 04/01/2024 19:41

Jesus Christ you cannot get on a bus with Noro!!

elliejjtiny · 04/01/2024 19:52

Really not a good idea to get a bus with norovirus. It's incredibly contagious and anyone on the bus might be just about to have a long awaited hospital appointment or be a carer for a vulnerable person or anything really.

marrybarry · 04/01/2024 20:01

Noro usually is vomiting too though isn't it?
I hope you got/get home safe x

Snoozymoozy · 04/01/2024 20:07

Sorry you've been so unwell, but I'd be fuming if I caught noro from someone who was clearly unwell on a bus... (just like the man who coughed on me in a shop last month, gave me covid and ruined my family's Xmas plans)

ScarlettDarling · 04/01/2024 20:16

Hope you made it home op? How are you feeling now?

JoyOdell123 · 04/01/2024 20:20

Omg how selfish can you get, travelling on public transport and spreading your germs.
