A very dear friend who doesn't bake has very generously gifted me the stand mixer which she bought for her husband who died a few years ago. I've always wanted one and am very excited. Mum says I now need to buy a cook book to go with it. (It didn't come with one)
I've looked online and seen a few but am worried I'll end up buying an American book or end up with one that isn't right.
Which one would you recommend please?

You really don’t need a specific cookery book. Assuming you have one like a Kenwood Chef or Kitchen Aid with different beaters ( dough hooks, whisk and regular one) you can make most kind of cakes or cookies from any recipe book.

Recently I used mine to whisk up egg whites for meringues, make an all in one lemon drizzle tray bake ( thanks Mary Berry), mix the ingredients for a sticky toffee pudding adding them individually as instructed by the recipe and also to mix together sausage meat and apple stuffing for the turkey.

I just choose a recipe I fancy and if there is any mixing or beating together of fats and sugar etc, out comes my Kenwood Chef. In fact, when I had my new kitchen installed I threw out most of my cookery books as I found I only used two or three recipes out of each book! I tend to save favourite ones online, use Pinterest or print out copies and store in a plastic file.

Be prepared to change American cup measurements to grams as many online recipes are American but that’s not a problem using online converters. American cups are not the same size as our British cups so I prefer to weight out the ingredients. You will also need to check the cooking temperatures which could be in Fahrenheit rather than centigrade or gas mark as we use.
