Advice needed on potential work situation..

Work in the nhs.
Desperate to leave where I currently work. I have two interviews this week for two jobs where I think I stand a very strong chance of getting based on my experience.

A further third potential job will be going live soon, its a band 6 and a step up from what I'm currently doing. I know someone internally who sits on the Executive Board and they've put in an incredibly good word for me and I think I also stand a good job.

The trouble is this job interviews three weeks after the two interviews i have this week.

I'm not sure what to do, I don't want to pin my hopes on this one job and bin off these two interviews as a result. But what if I get one of these jobs and then an interview for another.

I feel terrible to mess anyone around but just want to have an idea of what I should do if this situation arises?..

Any advice?

Interview for them all. Then make a decision based on what happens/what you get offered. It's definitely a go with the flow scenario rather than trying to pre empt what may happen.

Is there a notice period in your current role?

So hopefully even if you were successful with one of the first interviews you wouldn't have to start the post until after you've had the later interview because of your notice period. You could drag that time out as well and not formally hand your notice in for a while.

Ideally they'd let you know if you've been successful within a few days and then you could make a decision. If you don't get it then you've still got the other one to fall back on. If you are successful you make the decision to say thanks but on reflection no thanks.

And yes it might be annoying and inconvenient if you pull out of the first job after accepting it but it's more money. They'd understand. I'm sure it happens quite a lot.

My friend did this, also NHS. She told the first job offer that she was awaiting an interview for another job too. They held the job for her until she had the second interview (which she also got). In this situation they didn't mind as the other interviewees would not have got the job anyway, so they had nothing to lose by holding out for her.
