How do people who are conscripted pay their bills and mortgages?

Let's say you're on a very high salary, like a lawyer or an engineer. Your country goes to war and you are conscripted. Your bills and mortgage are in line with your wage, and an army salary will not cover these expenses. What do people do in such scenarios? As far as I can tell, there is no insurance for being conscripted and losing your income.

A mortgage holiday is probably no help whatsoever. You still need to pay back the money and you've not earnt your normal salary during that period so you've lost out!

Tbf at the situation this thread is talking about, small financial loss is probably the ok outcome

Rishi will sort it don’t worry. Fight to help out scheme will be launched and mortgages will be frozen, energy firms will be temporarily renationalised.

Which is fine until the war ends and the scheme stops and your main bread winner is dead or injured and can’t work and they say fuck off we’re not helping, have £110 a week UC.

not relevant but my gran and grandad were 6 weeks married when he was called up. She was left potless, he got his baby pay but not straight away obviously no online banking to transfer it home. She moved back in with her mum. She also brought it up periodically for the next 70 years.
