Waterproof trainers for running?

Does anyone have a pair of these and can recommend them? I say "running" but it's more middle-aged trotting, really. I never run on roads/paths; I run only on grass or unmade tracks, and I'm sick of getting soaking wet feet.

DD does a lot of cross country and got some HOKA ones this autumn. She loves them. We went for a run together at the beginning of the holidays and I envied her extra grip and the care free way in which she ran through long grass and small puddles. I then borrowed them for my next run and fell in love with them too. I will be buying myself some very soon!

On do some nice waterproof trail shoes. I can splash through ankle deep puddles with no issue. They are very pricy though.

I've not tried the trainers yet but I have recently splashed out on sealskinz socks. They're fine, a bit like a wetsuit bootie. Only wear them for parkrun puddles though. Not sure how well they'd cope with a proper long trail run. My feet get a bit sweaty too.

Yes you can get goretex and other sorts of waterproof shoes. They're not that great for serious cross country mud and water as when water gets in over the top it can't get out. But I find they're great for dealing with the splash from puddly pavements and not-too-muddy tracks.

I've worn ASICS for years but my latest pair is a pair of these

Looking forward to my current pair being worn out so I can wear them

Whatever you decide on, op, I would go somewhere you can try them on as sizes vary so much between brands. Even if you end up buying online.

God yes! I don't think I'd ever buy shoes online - I can imagine having to send about a dozen pairs back before I found some that actually fitted! I'm busy looking up local stockists for those mentioned so far.

My waterproof socks are amazing, a really game changer!!

They are cycling ones.

Hoka gore tex

100 day returns even after you have worn them and they have pretty cool foot scanner on website

You're better off with a pair of trail running or fell running shoes, they're designed to let the water out so that you don't feel like you have wet feet.

I have a pair of ASICS fujitraburo and innov8 talons.

@FrangipaniBlue That's interesting. Thank you.

Not a problem! You could also combine them with a pair of seal skin socks but with those I'd also advise a thin cotton sock underneath, sealskins always make my toes cold!

If you opted for that I'd also go up a size or half in your trainers.
