Renting with universal credit

Happy new Year!

I have recently left a toxic unhappy relationship with my two children and am staying with my parents. Needing to buy everything before I move out again, not doing too badly hoping to have everything we 'need' by March.

Any experience on renting through estate agents on universal credit? I do work as a ta in a school but will be relying on universal credit unfortunately.

Not going to lie, the rental market is very very tough atm. Many landlords are asking for a homeowner guarantor even if there are no benefits involved. Would your parents be able/ happy to do that?

Private renting is difficult. The fact that you're working is an advantage but the sad fact is landlords will likely choose working couples over single parents. It sucks. You will need a guarantor as well, likely a homeowner.

Yes they would be happy to be guarantor they own their own home and have savings but don't work would that be an issue?

One more question if I offer 3 months in advance will thay affect universal credit payments?

Because I could ask my parents to loan me but then would need to pay them back

I found a private landlord through our council. They have a list of a few they work with. Therefore council could act as guarantor type thing, they also loaned a deposit to pay back over a year.
