What are you looking forward to this year?

Firstly, I hope everyone has something to look forward to. And if you feel like you haven't, I hope this year surprises you.

Now that my DC is late teens and I have a little disposable income for myself, I'm hoping to l make the most of this year for me, and I'm looking for inspiration as to how to do that.

So far:

I have a long haul holiday booked.

Have enquired about private swimming lessons and hope to get a membership for my local pool.

Have booked onto a weekend workshop for an activity I enjoy.

Plan to take up a BSL course if I can find one locally.

Should be able to pay off my car and the small amount I have left on my credit card.

What plans do you have for this year, or what is happening for you that you are looking forward to?

New job that’s hopefully more interesting and rewarding, youngest turning 3 and being hopefully lower maintenance and getting 30 hours free childcare so we will be £££££ 😂, first holiday abroad in a couple of years, resolution to be on my phone less…have tried it out in the last few days and it’s been liberating but slipped a bit tonight, hence on mumsnet!

Lovely family holiday planned for summer
DS has GCSEs so looking forward to those being over and hun seeing the results of his hard work.
Potentially leaving the sector I’ve worked in all my life and doing something completely new. If this works out it should result in more free time and less stress.

More sleep, and like pp, childcare funding. We had 3 under 3 at one point. Our twins will qualify for a couple of months at 15 hours before they would be eligible for 30 hours anyway. It has been a (delightful but) hard slog to get to this point, let alone 1 April.

Great idea for a thread, op!

I'm looking forward to our first family holiday abroad which is booked for June, and my loan being paid off in August! It's been a weight around my neck since maternity leave, but the end is in sight!

We are also hoping to move, so fingers crossed!

Quitting my job and semi retiring at 48!

Time to leave the rat race

bestbet · 31/12/2023 22:16

@Choupelle you win!

Also great for those of you looking forward to the drop in childcare costs. Even though I got CTC, and wish my DC was tiny again in a lot of ways, I don't miss the childcare costs or logistics!

DC2 arriving after 6 years of unexplained secondary infertility :)

Tory annihilation and getting a new job.

Continuing to refurbish my new house.

In general not giving a fuck anymore about what anyone thinks of me...

I have a son with SEN and he turns three and the physiotherapist is confident he'll walk in 2024 (I know he might not but all my fingers and toes are crossed!)

I start training to be a nurse in April and it's so scary to retain at 30 but so exciting.

An election.

Doing a lot less - I want to slow the pace of life down as much as possible.

Four weddings of close friends to attend!

Both DC starting new extra curricular clubs which they're excited about.

Another yoga with adriene 30 day series!

My cousin started her training at 40, just in time for covid, got herself through a horrible health scare, and has recently qualified. She loves it and I'm quite in awe of her!

Good luck to you, and your boy.

Taylor Swift concert with both girls in June, then The Killers, 4 days later! I will be knackered, but happy 😊
