How do you enjoy Jan/ Feb?

I'm reflecting on the last few months. Autumn - New year has been busy with so many Halloween/ Christmas events/ prep/ non stop events. It has been busy and fun but exhausting.

Jan/ Feb does seem miserable and boring in comparison. And it's a long way until Spring. it's making me feel quite low

I'm thinking of going into Jan/ Feb with aim of trying to embrace season as a time of stillness and relaxation.

I would love a spa day/ hot baths/ reading although not sure how realistic with young children

Interested to hear how others get through these months? is there anyone that actually enjoys this time of year - any tips

I live in southern England, so I look for signs of spring, they start surprisingly early here, so buds on trees, bulbs, snowdrops, things like that, they don't want til March/April! Otherwise, hunker down, turn the heating up.

By not trying to do a ‘thing’ - diet, veganism, dry - and by not banishing Christmas and New Year too decisively. By not eating all the treat food too soon. Enjoying wearing lovely winter clothes

I quite like January. Relaxing after manic Christmas and no pressure to be doing much.

I generally hate February, rarely much going on and weather's too crap to be out and about which is how I prefer to be.

I am all about weather and light though. If it's cold and crisp I'll be happy enough, wet and windy is the pits.

I love Jan and Feb. I really dislike March and April though!

I love the dark nights, the cold, rain and wind. I have my birthday, the six nations starts, valentines, half term...I really enjoy it all!

I find March and April dull and uninspiring. May is ok. June and July plagued by hay-fever. August is almost autumn so a happy month before it all starts again! I love the rhythm of a year.

I think of the people I know who died too young and how if you offered them the chance to come back to life for only January and February each year how they’d bite your arm off, and then I get on with making the best of the life I’ve been given. I think this hatred of January/February is the ultimate in western self pity and indulgence.

Snap! Except I like the summer. Really not a fan of March ( too many birthdays and the weather is so hit or miss, or April and the expense of commercialised Easter and school holidays).
Love my January birthday in 2 weeks. Great time to get away for a weekend break. Aside from that it’s a good time to reign in spending.
February is a lovely time where there’s not much to do in the garden but lots of things start growing or budding - exciting.

I like Jan & Feb. They are my months to rest, self care, save & prepare.

It is, in a way. Back when most people had to do hard agricultural labour, this was the holiday period. With little farm work (though pulling cabbages out of frozen soil is no fun, and sheep insist on getting stuck in cold, wet ditches), it was a time to catch up on domestic life, friends and sleep.

Although few of us live that kind of life any more, the drive to sink into a winter torpor still persists: not for you, maybe, but for me it's visceral and I'm not alone. I used to bugger off to the tropic of Capricorn for these two months. It kept me energised, happy and healthy. All I can do these days is snuggle down, implement some poor electronic substitutes for the sunshine, and wait.
