Do you have a holiday booked for this year? If so, where?!

I'm in need of some inspiration. We don't have anything booked and I can't really face looking! It's not like me at all.

I'd be with 3 children aged 8 and under. Happy to stay in the UK or short/medium haul. Family-friendly is my priority.

I'm open to any ideas. Has anyone been anywhere they loved?

This holiday sounds wonderful.

Yesterday we booked two weeks in the Highlands in the summer for us, our three teen DC and the dog. Two weeks of chilling out, castles, wild swimming, walks, games, reading and chat. Cannot WAIT!

That sounds like my ideal holiday 😊

Week AI in Cyprus and a week in Woolacombe in the summer. Praying for dry weather.

Still looking for October half term.

Taking the overnight ferry to The Netherlands, driving to Center Parcs for a week and then coming back via a day at Efteling was our standard holiday when the DC were those ages. It was absolutely brilliant and they loved it. The ferry was part of the adventure. CP Europe is a lot cheaper than the UK version too!

We've booked AI In Tunisia next August and the resort looks beautiful. It did take a lot of trip-advisor filtering though!

BlowDryRat · 31/12/2023 09:10

Oops, just read your other posts and seen you're already an expert at that holiday!

Another great holiday we had with young DC was self-catering in the Peak District. We stayed in a cottage by a stream and paddled and pond dipped every day. The farm at Chatham House, the nearby caves and cycling on the Monsal Trail were hits.

Menorca is very family friendly. We last went in 2019 when DC were 11 and 9, have been 3 times. It was a bit more expensive then so don't know what prices are like now.
Been to 3 different Greek Islands in the past and found them family friendly too.

Plans being made for 5 days in the Lake District and a city break later in the year - can’t decide between Amsterdam and Stockholm - anyone been to both and have a preference?

Stockholm

Gran Canaria for a week in July. We normally go all inclusive but I just can't face it anymore. We are going self catering and I can't wait. Looking forward to eating somewhere different every evening and being served at our table, instead of constantly getting up and down for different things.

Also, the last few times we have been AI, dinner time is crazy and like a herd of wild animals.

Ooo love the sound of that. I think we're coming to the end of our tolerance for AI. Last couple of times I've also started to dislike the meal set up. We're doing one more this year, but may be tempted to try SC next year.

We are going to Japan in October, thinking about Paris at Easter, and maybe a long weekend in Bruges

Lisbeth50 · 31/12/2023 10:19

The best holiday we had with children was Duinrell in the Netherlands. We went 3 times. Book direct rather than Eurocamp. Very easy drive from the ferry port.

ChristmasEvemaddness · 31/12/2023 10:59

@Stripedfluffysocks.. Booking efteling is extremely straight forward.

Just go to the site you don't need any special help unlike Disney which deliberately makes booking insanely hard.
I recommend Bosrijk village, houses or hotel and stay 3 nights.

turkeymuffin · 31/12/2023 15:25

Welsh mountains this week with friends.

Center parcs in May with extended family.

Croatia in summer.

Probably canaries or Cape Verde in Oct half term.

@froomeonthebroom Can I ask which Eurocamp you're staying on? Interested in the coast near the Pyrenees

Le Ruisseau. This will be our fourth eurocamp with kids. We've not been to that site before but reviews look OK, and we can do 2 weeks in France for less than 1 week all inclusive elsewhere.

Stockholm

Stockholm is my vote too. It’s an incredible vibrant diverse city and so interesting. The shopping and restaurants are brilliant. The various areas are each unique and it lends itself so well to wandering around. The old town is mesmerising and enchanting, all the history with the palace, Abba, the parks, concerts there are endless things to do. They are so child friendly and the public transportation system is easy to use.
