Ticking bedside clock

I really struggle to sleep without background noise. Usually I have a fan on but it’s really counter productive when we’re spending money on heating!
many years ago the sound of a ticking clock really helped but all clocks seem to be silent these days! Does anyone know of a clock that has a good tick please!?

Just Google it.

If you can’t find one then Spotify has ticking clock sleep sounds (or YouTube if you don’t have a Spotify subscription) just looked as I play white noise for my baby through a speaker in their room from my phone!

I found a lovely ticking clock in my local charity shop .

I used to need these to sleep so I bought the cheapest plastic battery clocks from Argos, they are still ticking away, little silver plastic ugly clocks. I still take them with me when travelling but now I fall asleep like I’m dead. 😵

Poundland have sold them in the past, not sure if they still do

There's an app for that OP!

I have a little battery powered travel alarm clock from Superdrug.

A ticking clock beside me at night would drive me cracked.
I remember having a travel one in its own case when I was young.
I hated it.
We are all so different. Smile

If it’s background noise you want, l suggest sleeping with someone who snores. There are lots available, don’t require batteries, some are even wind powered, and it’s easy to upgrade to a new model if they malfunction.

I love the sound of my old grandfather clock ticking away in my hallway. It sends me off to sleep in no time.
I also have an old wind up alarm clock which ticks merrily away on my bedside table.
When my kids were tiny babies , I used to put my alarm clock in their bedroom and the ticking always soothed them to sleep.

If you have an iPhone you have a free built in white noise machine

Google "background sounds on iPhone"

I’ve googled but only seem to find silent ticking clocks.

Play thunderstorm
sounds on your phone. It's brilliant for sleeping.

Jellypudmum · 01/01/2024 23:32

I used to have one that lay flat in a hard travel case when I was younger; would love it now!

Alexa has an audible clock app in the skills bit

As with PP, ticking clocks drive me up the wall while trying to sleep.

I’ve always found the traditional-style wind up alarm clocks to have the loudest (and most infuriating!) ticking sound https://www.ticktockclocks.co.uk/saxon-wind-up-twin-bell-alarm-clock-16cm-a-12627?dfw_tracker=124580-A-12627&gclid=CjwKCAiA4smsBhAEEiwAO6DEjY_y7zrwFa7TMBXEh18HbQnMMdlJxngMAjyoUiXa-dYTt7Ar_lw16BoC0aAQAvD_BwE

ETA - coincidentally, a review confirms that the linked clock has a nice loud tick
