Why is my bathroom sink tap roasting hot but my bath hot tap not??

Are they different?

I have an old boiler that needs replacing but my hot taps in bother kitchen and bathroom sinks get untouchable hot water.

Yet I'm sat in a bath now that's 100% hot tap water and it's chilly :(

I want a hot bath?!!

Surely it's the same hot water in the sink and bath in the bathroom?

I don’t know but I am watching with interest as my bathroom taps are scalding hot while my kitchen taps are tepid!

How weird!

I've just asked DH to boil me a kettle for the bath.

I just don't understand how 2 taps feet away from each other have such different temps?

If I put my bath tap on fully it doesn’t get hot. If I put it on just a bit it does get hot.. might be worth a try.

Do you have a hot water tank? Is the water from the kitchen/ bathroom wash basin tap still hot after youve run a bath? Might be stating the bleeding obvious but could be that the bath drains the tank?

No tank.

If I run the other taps they get piping hot in seconds but the bath tap doesn't.

Some mixer taps have a valve in to control the temperature to avoid scalding - at least that is what I was told.

If you have a combi boiler it could be because of different flow rates in the taps. The lower flow rate in the basin tap will result in hotter water from there, whereas the bath tap will have a faster flow and the boiler may not be able to keep up with that, making the water tepid when it’s fully on. Try turning the flow down to quite low on the bath tap and see if the water is hotter like that.
