I'm cold all the time and spend a lot of time outdoors, I really need the thickest warmest brands or what to look for.

I've been wearing M&S heatgen top with thick fleece or jumper but I'm still cold.

I think I need more like ski layers or something. What am I looking for or what brands etc?

I need tops, leggings, socks ideally.

I struggle a lot with cold. Camping gear works best. Long sleeved fleece thermal vest, light fleece, teddy fleece. I have been known to put a down gilet over the top of that. Leggings and thermal trousers.

Can you wear real wool? Makes a huge difference. Merino for next to the skin, thicker wool on top.

I can't wear wool unfortunately. Any type makes my skin itch really bad

Uniqlo Heattech is the one you need! Their long sleeve base layers are so cosy.

Also Primark thermal leggings are a godsend and so cheap. They’re fluffy lined and I wear them skiing as my base layers and are super toasty.

honeyandfizz · 29/12/2023 20:36

Lovall for their fleece lined leggings - best I have ever tried. Uniqlo Heattech turtle neck base layers are amazing too.

watersoul · 29/12/2023 20:38

M&S fleece lined leggings are ace.

amicissimma · 29/12/2023 20:41

Original Heat Holders socks. The Max thickness ones. A pair of merino socks underneath doesn't go amiss.
If your feet are cold you'll never be warm.

Flibbertigibbettytoes · 29/12/2023 20:42

That's tough for you - it's really tricky to get warm on top without wool for layers.

Acai leggings are thick and well worth the cost.

grumpytoddler1 · 29/12/2023 20:42

Heated gilet!!

Cynderella · 29/12/2023 20:59

I have the M&S thermal leggings and like them - second winter and they're wearing well. I wear them under something else if going out. Wool socks and then the Heatholder socks over. On top, two merino wool layers and a cashmere jumper. Hoodie on top if necessary!

I have a couple of M&S thermal long sleeve tops - could you wear one under wool layers?

Evenings on sofa - Oodie over PJs.

What you've got should be ok. You just need more layers.
When it's bitter, and I get the delights of sitting still with kids in unheated spaces, I generally wear:
*Tops: vest, thermal vest teeshirt, and jumper.
*bottoms: primark thermal tights, trousers, and walking socks.
*outers: coat, scarf, hat and gloves.

Uniqlo heattech. The long sleeved thermal vest is amazing.

And yes to the M&S leggings. Thermal trousers over the top: Mountain Warehouse camping ones.
