posting about this issue
DH is young (mid/late 20s) and in the past 18 months has had blood when going to the toilet. This has happened 4 times now in his life. The last one was early summer then once again today.
He is active, doesn’t drink or smoke, healthy weight and obviously young. No other symptoms at all other than this very very occasional bleeding when he went to the toilet. I think it was a lot of blood from what he said, but it only ever happens the once and then abates for at least 6 months if not longer.
He has been to the doctor about it twice. Once in another country when he lived abroad. They did colonoscopy and testing and concluded it was polyps. They did surgery to take it out and sent off for investigation, it came back fine with no further action.
He went to the GP in this country in the summer who did a brief examination and concluded it was likely piles and seemed satisfied given his age and that it had been investigated and proved to be harmless before.
DH has confided in me that it happened today. Although it’s extremely irregular and only happens once with at least six months in between, I am so so worried about him. I am mostly cross he didn’t leave work and go to the GP today given that we are now heading into a bank holiday weekend!!
Since it would be unfair to tell him how worried I am, please can anyone help me to not google myself silly and run off to 200 different conclusions of worst case scenarios?
Logically I am thinking well if it were terribly serious and needed investigating NOW it would be happening daily, weekly or monthly - and it’s not. He’d be losing weight or having other symptoms right?
Any thoughts appreciated. Tysm
