And 2 packs of mince pies for 55p per pack. They are my 2 favourite Christmas treats. I live alone so I can and will eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner till they're gone. This was from Asda. What's your post Christmas food bargain and where did you find it?

Lighthearted so Grinches beware.

Aww that’s lovely! I hope you enjoy them! That’s a major bargain indeed.

I like the discounted wrapping paper, crackers and gift tags on Boxing Day. I’m afraid to go food shopping though as I eat too much as it is. I bet I’d get some good deals on Yule logs and brandy cream though!

Lotrehin · 29/12/2023 14:13

M&S luxury Xmas pud for £3.47. And half price brandy cream to go with it.

That's breakfast sorted for the next week.

There was a massive fresh turkey crown in the Co Op reduced to £4. But I had no room in the freezer for it so had to leave it.

I did buy a lovely box of baubles in B & Q reduced to 2.50 from £10 though.

Love a bargain.

Mine is a sad story. Cheese selection box. On its lonesome, not a price tag in sight. I thought to myself "i bet that's on offer" put it in trolley then didn't actually think again till I got home (buffet for 11 occupying brain). Four cheeses, very small jar of chutney and about 12 oat biscuits. 22 feckin POUNDS!!! I actually can't believe it. M&S to name and shame.

But your purchasing makes me happy op. Excellent work.

JennyForeigner · 29/12/2023 14:18

Just an FYI that Stilton freezes beautifully. Buy as much as you can!

I'll swap you a bit for one of my new pot planted Christmas pikea that is about to be planted out as a shrubbery 😀

Gliblet · 29/12/2023 14:19

A Lidl rum and raisin marzipan log for 89p.

Nothing to rival a couple of years ago though when I picked up a leg of lamb and a whole large salmon on boxing day for under a fiver.

JennyForeigner · 29/12/2023 14:20

Also I'm heading into veganuary, so treated myself to a 12p plant based brandy cream for my coffee, for the lols.

It's made of lentils.

Lotrehin · 29/12/2023 14:21

Yes you have to watch m&S. They put non reduced things in the reduced bits. Tricky fuckers.

Morrisons too. I actually went to customer service and got money refunded because they'd put a load of wine on a big display with a massive "half price wine" banner over it and apparently the banner referred to a completely different wine.

I might Elevenerife this one Grin. I run a food bank. On 24 December in the afternoon a volunteer and I did a run round a few of the local supermarkets before closing time. I think the final count was 89 turkeys, ranging in price from £45 to £130 each. And a few salmon, choc trifles etc. We had some very grateful clients.

Theblackdogagain · 29/12/2023 14:24

Vegetarian Wellington, 63p reduced from £6.

mrsbyers · 29/12/2023 14:26

Mince pies were 12p a pack in Asda yesterday , we need more mince pies like we need sunscreen at the moment but two packs purchased

MorrisZapp · 29/12/2023 14:26

DP just triumphed in Waitrose. Two fancy prawn starters for a quid.

MorrisZapp · 29/12/2023 14:28

Also this year's Christmas pudding was FREE because we forgot to eat it last year. It was bloody delicious!

£130 for a turkey - is that a bargain?!

TheWayTheLightFalls · 29/12/2023 14:41

They were free for us @ArcticBells - those were the RRPs.

PupInAPram · 29/12/2023 15:56

Brekkies will be mince pie with Greek yogurt, lunch will be cheese (stilton) on toast.

Ooh I didn’t know you could freeze Stilton. Stilton is the food of the gods as far as I’m concerned.

Jitterybugs · 29/12/2023 16:09

My bargain was a free range fresh turkey from Tesco priced £54 marked down to £12 on Christmas Eve afternoon. I’ve got it in the freezer.

I also bought a tray of minted lamb bhajis from the Tesco finest party range. Marked down from £5.30 to £1.20. Honest truth, they weren’t worth any more than the yellow label price.
