So how much is this Christmas paper ???

Can anyone understand this because I've been pondering all day and still can't.
Went into card factory today, I was told everything christmas related was 50% off (even if it didn't have a sign on it) so I saw these- 3 rolls of paper for 1.50 but with 50% off they would have been 75p for 3
Went to the till to pay to be told although they have 50% off there still 3 for 1.50 how is that 50% off ??? Im so baffled , I did question it and was told its the individual price so what on earth are these inidividual price then? To me there's no actual discount its incredibly misleading and thinking about taking this to trading standards

So how much is this Christmas paper ???

I think I’d probably just let this go, in the grand scheme of life.

KindleGirlie · 27/12/2023 22:32

So they’re £1 each pre sale, or 3 for £1.50. Making 3 on sale for 50p each - £1.50.

scoutingfor · 27/12/2023 22:39

Trading standards Confused

Bloody hell you must not get out much. As a PP has explained the 50% is off the original price, not any offers. A bit crap but hardly worth the effort for a thread never mind trading standards!

I was honestly thinking how was this important enough for you to post on mumsnet about and then I got to the trading standards part 😂

idontlikealdi · 27/12/2023 22:41

Trading standards🤣🤣

caringcarer · 27/12/2023 23:43

Just say you no longer want them.

Mammyloveswine · 28/12/2023 09:14

This paper was £1.29 a roll before Christmas so 3 rolls for £1.50 now is a total bargain!

Trading standards indeed Grin

Topofthemountain · 28/12/2023 09:34

In days of old, when it was 3 for a £1, it would then be 50p.

It isn't wrong to still be £1.50 for 3 (was £1 each, now 50p each) but it isn't really right either because they are purposely marketed at 3 for £1.50.

Delassalle · 28/12/2023 09:36

Pondering all day?

I think an overhaul of your life and finding some activities might be in your best interests.

I'm sure the OP is quite capable of doing both at the same time.

hardknocklifeforme · 28/12/2023 09:43

Yes definitely fight for your 75p! 🤣🤣🤣

oneflewoverthe · 28/12/2023 09:45

Trading standards oh my word Grin annoying but often reductions work that way. They don't include the multi buy deals

QueSyrahSyrah · 28/12/2023 09:50

Exactly this. The multi-buy offer no longer applies.

While you're on to Trading Standards you could mention that none of the gifts in Boots are 3 for 2 anymore now they're half price.

It was already 3 rolls for £1.50 before hand though…

JustExistingNotLiving · 28/12/2023 10:08

@Mickeyfish i suspect you’ll find a little star next to the 50% on all the products to say it only apply to individual products. It will be in small letters too.

I do agree about it being potentially misleading. Like a lot if those offers tbh.

Ive also had tte situation where I bought 3 products, was charged the ‘special’ price for 3 even though it was cheaper to get the 3 individual items on sale… But computer says so because I had bought 3 items….

Toomuch44 · 28/12/2023 10:24

If you buy something in a sale, in most cases the tills are set up to loose the original offer.

Exactly thats my point . Its not even individually priced up

Trading standards!

I suspect that the phone call will cost you more than 75p. Honestly, move on.

scoutingfor · 28/12/2023 10:52

Can you take a picture of the label on one of the rolls?
