What happens to your bag if you’re taken away in an ambulance?

I don’t know why but this has become a recent obsession of mine - I want to know if I’m walking down the street and collapse or get hit by a bus etc - and need to get taken away in an ambulance, what happens to the stuff you have with you like bags etc? If it goes with you surely the hospital staff can’t be responsible for all your stuff if you’re being wheeled around from place to place? I was thinking about a phone for example would they make sure it came with you (thinking could my husband track me on find my friends and find me if something happened etc!)

I know in a life threatening emergency it would be the last thing on your mind, but I often muse as I’m carrying my work laptop around, would it just get lost in all the commotion of an accident never to be seen again?!

any hospital staff know?!

A long time ago I was knocked down by a car ( not very hard ) and put in a thingy so I couldn't move my head while waiting for a CT scan. I felt my tampon was leaking and asked what to do about it, and the (male) nurse changed it for me. He was obviously quite used to doing this.

Oh wow. That would finish me off if any accident hadn't 🤣🤣🤣

I want to know what the hospital staff do with the random things they find inside people's bodies...lost dildos, knives, bits of javelin etc. is there a special bin? Do they go in with the bodily waste? Also what happens to all the bits of body now I mention it. All the placentas and manky old gallbladders and so on. And full limbs? What if you get your leg removed, where does it go?

Not sure but I've heard they keep a file of amusing X-rays.

I saw a motorcycle crash once and the person being put in the ambulance, now I'm wondering what happened to the bike. Often I think of him when I pass the spot where it happened.

An elderly disabled friend of mine has an accident about 10 miles from home. I was the last person she had messaged, so the paramedics called me, they left the dog and electric wheel chair at a local pub plus her car keys. They also contacted Waitrose to make sure she would not get a ticket.

Not all towns have police stations but rest assured paramedics are ingenious.

I was taken into hospital unconscious and the next day when I came around I realised I had a catheter in, but was also bleeding- I'd been on my period and had a tampon in, which they'd obviously removed and laid a big pad under me. It was pretty gross to be honest, not used to just bleeding without a tampon in!

When I had an accident on my bicycle ( no other vehicle involved) they put the bike in the ambulance as well. I witnessed someone falling and hitting their head while manoeuvring a large suitcase, the ambulance took the suitcase as well as the person.

I once got knocked over and knocked out by a cyclist while walking from a shop with my dog.
The paramedics put my bag in the ambulance with me and the police took my dog to the kennels at the police station, where he was spoilt rotten until my DH collected him.
My flip flops that I was wearing were lost forever though. They were on my feet prior to the accident, but not after. Basically, I went one way and my flip flops went the other.
