Big garden - how much do you + kids use it?

If you've got a big(ish) garden, how much do you / kids use it? Particularly young secondary school aged kids. Weighing up if it's worth considering moving to get more out for space, in a couple of years time. Or if we will have passed peak playing outside ages... I would love a bigger garden myself in an ideal world, but we'd be financially better off to stay put.

We have a medium sized garden. The grandchildren played out yesterday as soon as they arrived. The best think we ever did was to get rid of the lawn, the mowing took all of our available time so the rest was a dump. Now there's no grass to cut, the rest gets looked after

We moved from a 2 bed semi with a teeny tiny garden to a 3 bed semi in the same close as we loved it. This house has a ridiculously large garden with different “zones” and it’s on a slight hill at some points which drives me crazy as I would love a totally flat garden. We moved as we had dd who is now nearly 13 and couldn’t expect her to share with ds who is or nearly 21. They have hardly used the garden in our 10 years here.

We are not gardeners and to be honest it’s a chore. It could be amazing but would cost a lot and we’re looking to move soon as I really need a downstairs toilet due to mobility issues and fibromyalgia.

if I had the choice I would choose a smaller garden over a bigger garden. As long as I’ve got a couple of washing lines, room for a shed and a table and chairs etc then I wouldn’t worry. We do have a husky who has dug so many holes in the grass, he thinks he’s a mole. I would even be happy with a flagged garden after the upkeep of this one. Maybe it would be different if we were green fingered!

Depends on the kids. One of mine is out there all weathers. Another would rather be inside with a screen or go out. I've been too I'll this year but I'm previous years I've grown my own veg and love love love a bbq with lots of guests

We've gone from a teeny tiny new build to .26 acre garden and my kids (15 & 12) love it. 15yo DD has fire pits with friends, which we only did once before due to the smoke so close to neighbours now it's quite regular. Both play football, netball, slip and slide, climb the trees etc. Maybe they appreciate it more having had such a small garden when they were little but they do make use of it.

DS and his friends did up to about age 11, then they went down the park. Garden is about 200ft but only half of it was ever accessible to play in as rest was gated off for vegetables, greenhouse and stuff.

Ours is larger than average and wasn't really needed by DC BUT I would hate to give it up as I love looking out on it, the extra privacy and a little more distance from neighbours.
