Socialising with adult family that isn't centered around a sit down meal?

I get a bit fed up of the usual sit down meal as the main activity at the centre of spending time with family. Does anyone have other suggestions??

Bowling? We do barefoot bowls as it’s Summer but indoor would be fun too.

What range of ages do you have? Also roughly how many people? Just so we can suggest suitable activities

With various friends/family we get together with a walk or board games being the focus.

Ah good point. One 78 year old with dementia, plus spouse. The rest are 40 plus or minus a few years.

@NutellaEllaElla

Traditional board games 🎲 have even become quite popular in certain pub evenings too,

Playing charades too,

Would visting a pantomime or visting another type of theatre experiences

What about singing along karako style to music or visting music nights at a good pub or community hall ect

Could you split into 2 teams and do a jigsaw? So buy 2 of the same jigsaw and see who can do it fastest?

or how about a theme evening eg 60s or 70s, with background music and food/drinks from the decade? Or could do a country theme eg Italy. I’d suggest picking a theme that would appeal
to the person with dementia eg a country they visited when younger or a decade they can remember.

alternatively can you set the person with dementia up with some adult colouring, and the rest of you do a family quiz, and they can chip in if they can but the colouring will keep them busy and stop them wandering off?

Panto/theatre

Visiting RSPB/WWT place to look at birds

Short walks in interesting places (dovedale etc)

Historical evening - dress up as character from history and play various historical games

Local National trust place/castle
