£50 from in-laws. Determined to spend it on myself and not bills/kids/groceries. Inspire me - what would you buy?

I thinking of putting mine towards a soup maker. I live alone so would solely for me. How about booking a facial if it is not something you would normally do or putting it towards a massage?

CatalogueOnVinylFlooring · 26/12/2023 17:10

DH got me a bottle of Mermaid gin for or else that would have been a good shout.

Mmm mermaid gin

Another bottle of mermaid gin?

Books? Is there anything you had your eye on? You could get some nice hard back editions.

ghostbusters · 26/12/2023 17:45

Clothes, probably jeans if I can find some that fit me. Or I'd put it towards some new leather boots.

TheCatfordCat · 26/12/2023 17:47

A nice bra. A jumper. A trip to the cinema.

SutWytTi · 26/12/2023 17:48

A ticket to a concert or exhibition or play or film.

wetpebbles · 26/12/2023 17:48

An Oodie?

Ariela · 26/12/2023 17:49

I'd spend on books, I had so few given me this year (3), they were all read by bedtime yesterday (and we didn't open any presents till 3pm)

Guibhyl · 26/12/2023 17:54

I’d put it towards some new shoes or coat or to get a new hair cut/colour. They’re the the things that made me feel most like I’ve got my shit together. Wearing old shoes or coats or having lifeless hair makes me feel really rubbish!

ObliviousCoalmine · 26/12/2023 18:01

New yoga mat.
Towards a decent facial.
Couple of hours by myself in a spa with a book.
The USB charged diffuser from Neom for the car/moving around the house.
Elemis balm cleanser.

I got this last year and got the a full body massage. Now I think I need them regularly to ease the tension of lugging kids and their stuff around!

Well to be fair one was a picture book, Britain according to Kaleb, absolute rubbish but my daughter seems to think because I like Clarkson's Farm I also like Kaleb's stuff (it's likely she got me it so she could read it). He covers a few vague local customs around Britain. Not much detail, a few silly comments, no depth or substance large photos to take up space in the book, and you can tell it's been ghost written. Not recommended.
Peter Kay's TV - this is an excellent read, amusing, lots to laugh at, thoughtful and very interesting. And sad too, I didn't know he had a long correspondence by letter with Ronnie Barker, the bit about his funeral brought tears to the eyes. I'd recommend this.
Also Scenes from Prehistoric Life by Francis Pryor (about the various landscapes in Britain from Stone Age to Romans), which was my pick from Ways secondhand book shop in Henley, bought in case I didn't get given anything to read! Perhaps not a normal Mumsnetter choice, but if you enjoy Time Team and Digging for Britain it's appropriate.
