Trapped wind surely?!

mrsbyers · 26/12/2023 16:41

Guzzle a can of coke or other fizzy drink as fast as you can and then burp , really burp

Cheeesus · 26/12/2023 16:42

Or a bit of your sandwich stuck? Try a fizzy drink or eating something else.

Sounds like gallstone pain to me, especially the night waking.

LoudSnoringDog · 26/12/2023 16:42

Right hand side? This was a pain I experienced with my gallbladder

pinkdelight · 26/12/2023 16:58

Gallbladder. Get it investigated now as it'll keep happening and gets agonising.

mynameiscalypso · 26/12/2023 17:02

Unless the pain is really excruciating it's quite unlikely to be gallstones. I get something similar and it's just indigestion. Always happens after sandwiches for some reason 🤷🏻‍♀️

CyberCritical · 26/12/2023 17:17

Came on to say gallstones and been beaten to it 😀

Mine was around Bra line level slightly to the right side of my back and if I pressed the corresponding point on my front under my right boob it felt like a bad bruise inside.

Had it a few times mainly at night lasting several hours then easing enough to go back to sleep.

Until the high it didn't ease and just got worse and worse till I was projectile vomiting at 3am, in agony and started to get a fever.

Took myself to A&E and eventually got a scan which showed a massive gallstone. Blood tests showed a bad infection.

ALongHardWinter · 26/12/2023 17:25

I was tempted to say gall bladder/gall stones, but having witnessed someone twice suffering from a gallstone flare up,I'd say it's unlikely unless you are in excruciating pain.
If it's an ongoing problem though,I'd get it checked out sooner rather than later, especially if it's disturbing your sleep.

CyberCritical · 26/12/2023 17:42

You can have a grumbling gallbladder for a while before a full on attack hits.

I probably had a dozen 'small attacks' over a 10 year period. Would find myself unable to get to sleep or waking up at around midnight with back pain that didn't relieve with any position. I'd take some painkillers, pace around a bit and about 4 hrs in it would settle enough to sleep. It was uncomfortable but not agony and I was convinced it was just from sitting at a desk for hours every day and not doing enough exercise.

Until the night it was actual unabating agony, worse then contractions, worse that bone breaks, full on agony.

dontgobaconmyheart · 26/12/2023 17:57

Indigestion?

Lucy377 · 26/12/2023 17:59

Indigestion. Take Gaviscon or Nexium.

2jacqi · 26/12/2023 18:23

@Windmill34 that is most likely indigestion or a duodenal ulcer or reflux. pain in the right shoulder indicates gallbladder problems and would most likely be accompanied by a degree of jaundice or really yellow urine. pain in the left shoulder indicates heart problems. pain can vary in intensity but at worst it feels like a stabbing pain. antacids and sitting up will relieve the pain. the right sort of food will also alleviate the pain. try and modify your diet not to include spicy products. when it is severely active try eating white! as in white bread, chicken, steamed fish, white rice. think red is pain and add white to make pink which is healthy.

pinkdelight · 26/12/2023 18:27

having witnessed someone twice suffering from a gallstone flare up,I'd say it's unlikely unless you are in excruciating pain.

That's what it gets like after a while but for a start the attacks can be milder and quite widely spaced.

Also indigestion remedies often do nothing for it. Hardcore painkillers can sometimes help but generally it needs managing with diet or ultimately having it removed.

Pain in shoulder blade is classic gallstone pain.

Try some buscopan, I've been told to try that if I get another attack, the hope (by no means guaranteed) is it relaxes the duct enough to let the stone pass, then the pain should stop.
