It goes back to the garden centre where they give us a £5 voucher for returning it, and they then recycle it by chipping it and sending it off to an industrial compost place.

NotFastButFurious · 26/12/2023 14:00

Mine goes back in the loft 🤣

NoTouch · 26/12/2023 14:10

My 30 year old tree goes back in loft too, it has a good few years left in it yet. 🤣

A local hospice collects & recycles them for a minimum £15 donation. We just need to leave it outside by 6th January.

AllAroundMyCat · 26/12/2023 14:13

We cut it down a bit and put it into the council garden waste bin.
The council shreds and composts it.

tenbob · 26/12/2023 14:16

The council collects ours as part of the weekly rubbish collection in January

The worst part is dodging the trees left on pavements by idiots who don’t want them clogging up their front gardens so put them on the kerb

WesselCups · 26/12/2023 14:25

Put it back in the garage for next year.

RainDropsStorm · 26/12/2023 14:52

I wish our local council done a collection for trees.

We chop ours up and put it in the compost.

SirChenjins · 26/12/2023 14:54

One goes back in the loft and the other continues growing in its pot.

That's a great idea!

Back into the attic

Vitriolinsanity · 26/12/2023 14:55

Alas where I live, folk have a tendency to lob them over the nearest fence Angry

WashItTomorrow · 26/12/2023 14:56

Council collects them from kerbside and recycles them.

Allfortheloveofabiscuit · 26/12/2023 14:57

I cut off the branches and put them in the green bin, and keep the trunk to use as a support in the garden

FreshWinterMorning · 26/12/2023 14:58

Put it back in the loft.

Sothisiit · 26/12/2023 15:00

I have one in a pot, it's going back outside and will come back inside next year, hopefully a foot or two taller.

Whiskyfromsmallglasses · 26/12/2023 15:01

There is a woman that collects them for free to make pens for her goats and they also apparently eat them

RainDropsStorm · 26/12/2023 15:06

@Sothisiit I didn't know you could do that. Would you mind giving me a guide on how to do it.

tinytemper66 · 26/12/2023 15:14

Burn it next year...

reluctantbrit · 26/12/2023 15:50

We either cut it small and it goes into the garden waste bin or we bring it to one of three collection points where the council has a large shredder and it is made into mulch.

We’re instructed to put them on the pavements. No one has front gardens where we live.

I have a potted tree it has done the last 4 Christmases. I thought it was looking a little worn so went to B&Q. They had a 2 foot (with 2 foot bare top branch) for £60. My 6 footer came back in. I will repot and take better care next year. .

Lizzieregina · 26/12/2023 18:59

Mine goes under the stairs, but people with live ones can bring them to the park to be shredded and used as mulch.

Sothisiit · 26/12/2023 22:17

@RainDropsStorm
You can buy them from many Garden centres, Lidl were also selling them.
I have it sunk in it's pot into a hole backfilled with sand which makes it easy to lift nearer Christmas.
Every few years they need repotting into a larger pot as they grow in size, with new soil l/sand/compost mix.
Lidl were selling 3ft trees for €14 before Christmas, you might pick up a bargain in the next few days.

TheChosenTwo · 26/12/2023 22:22

Ours is outside already (yeah calm down, we go on holiday tomorrow and not back until the day before we go back to work/school…), it’s currently down the side of the house but have booked it for the council collection service. The day before it’s collected it will be chopped in half and left on the drive as per the instructions.
