I have only just found pedantle (and all of you Smile) and so far I appear to be very bad at it. Any tips for how you come up with your guesses? I appear to be wasting a lot of guesses on articles and conjunctions which are on the page but don't give me much direction. I am in awe at the low number of guesses some people have on here. Any tips for how to direct my thinking more productively, or is the random approach actually the only way to go?

(Sorry if not appropriate for this thread, if this is just to share your scores!)

@blinkbonny
i am not the best
various topics,
you can use short words, such as The, in, of
and colour related, green for go, red for no basically, so a similar word to your green/orange word

InMySpareTime · 28/01/2024 08:46

If you put in "be" it auto fills be, is, was, were etc so it's better to put root words in.
Look at formatting first, if there's tiny 1-letter words it's probably mathematical, if it starts with a few words then brackets with a dash it's a dead person. If brackets have a colon it's something translated from another language at some point. If the word before the colon is 5 letters long, try Latin or Greek.
Good starter words are:
North (if you get amber results for that, check the length)
Species
United (if this gets hits check the word after to see if it's "states" or "kingdom")
Science
One
Century

Thanks @Willmafrockfit and @InMySpareTime - great tips! I have played twice and am taking around 200 guesses at the moment, so I think I can only improve! (I get frustrated and waste a lot of guesses by a scattergun approach, need to be a bit more disciplined). Addictive, though!

@blinkbonny also try the words HISTORY and WORLD

If you see two sets of two letters without a space in them, try ST or TH as it's often a number for a century e.g. 21st or 20th. The word before, say, 21st century can often be LATE or EARLY

If you have two letters separated by a . and ending with a . it's often I.E. or E.G.

You will pick up lots of little tips and tricks the more you play it.
