Crime Junkies

I'm a massive 'crime junkie' I watch murder shows to go to sleep to whilst figuring out 'who done it' as I'm nodding off!
So I'm asking my fellow crime ladies for recommendations please?
I've seen Dahmer, Gasey and the like. I was blown away by the 'Watcher' it still creeps me out as I like an ending. Not a fan cold cases!
Any recommendations??

The Jinx. It’s got a few episodes which could have been condensed, but the last one is bonkers!

Also, do you remember that woman who killed her husband and they released the bodycam footage of her saying she’d done it and would do it again? There’s a two parter which I think is called the Bubble & Squeak murder which is quite good. I had one opinion at the end of the first episode and a very different one at the end of the second.

What streaming services do you have?

TenderChicken · 22/12/2023 19:17

Are you only after Netflix or do you like podcasts too?

Don't Fuck With Cats is excellent if you haven't watched it yet.

Only a few murderers on this list, but I'm fascinated by large-scale con artists and have enjoyed all these: https://www.netflix.com/tudum/articles/con-artist-shows-movies

Brilliant. Thank you!

@albertcountry
The Fox Catcher film this involves wresting competences, the Olympics games and a weird Gun maker family dynasty Tycoon Jealousy & descent into madness,

The Keepers about the murder of Sister Mary Catherine and the way Catholic was in the past on a particular subject matter ...
it involves a suspious suicide too...

Both Netflix true life crimes stories was fascinating twists and unexpected turns.

Both were interesting documentaries 🤔...

Oops typo omission i ment to say Catholic Church,

also another one was a true life crime sensation on Netflix was The Staircase about an author not sure how popular were his books or what kind of genre of books he wrote,

a seeming respectable middle class family in America, find out its not as conventional as first appearances looks like,
an unexpected murder, a case of how could something as horrific thing as this, could happen to such a lovely respectable person the murder victim,
as what happened to someone within his family,
a sister of the murder victim on a one woman only mission to nail the murder and bring him to justice,
Two twists turns here is it looks like it could be a tragic accident at first, but later on start to dawn on you there is more to this case that meets the eye,

also another unexpected bizarre twist too with involves, one of the lawyer's involved very much so, in this high profile media case in America.

Typo mistake which *

There's also murders by the sea on YouTube series,

all about true life welsh murders crimes which quite often have underbelly of something unsavoury goings on and characters drawn to them up to no good ect,

like a real life version of midsummer's fictional tv series,

The theme music to this YouTube series of Murders by the sea,
alone is disturbing creepy and weird enough to put you on all on edge too feeling jittery, with care worn Punch and Judy seaside resorts entertainment...

Some murders by the seaside episodes have susprisly high profile true life crimes connections to Wales which were totally unexpected too,

i find it quite interesting as it's relates to my neck of woods and Wales doesn't seem like a place where you think nasty stuff like that could happen 🤔 in the first place too....

not sure how popular this true life crimes series was when it came out first but i used to watch it quite often before too..

I'm quite enjoying 'Murder on CCTV' on Discovery+. There's about 6 seasons and the episode (different story every time) always starts with what they think happened but then oh, CCTV emerges to show the truth.

Also, although not a documentary 'Love and death' on Netflix tells the true story of a woman who killed a friend (or did she?!). I really enjoyed that, especially reading about the details of the case afterwards.

MerylSqueak · 23/12/2023 08:23

It's not exactly what you asked for but I found making a murderer riveting.

Websleuth · 23/12/2023 09:15

Thanks for this thread OP, watching with interest. I've exhausted most of the documentaries on Netflix.

I like watching televised trials, have you watched the OJ Simpson doc? I've just watched it for the 3rd time, interesting to hear the background/ what events led up to the murders.
