Is anyone else stressing over noisy neighbours this Christmas period?

I'm lucky to get the Christmas period off work for a week or so. I've had issues with next doors dog barking non stop when she's out. I've been round four or five times, including a polite note. Then they got a puppy and that also barked and howled and cried. After a few months of me hoping that it might get trained, nothing improved and I went to the council. It was heavenly for around three months. More recently the dogs were left 5 hours one day a few weekends back. I put a note through the door again, polite but saying that I'd have no choice to go to the council again if it continues. Since then the dogs have been left for less time, most recently being about an hour this past weekend. I understand that she'll have errands to run without the dogs. I'm on edge though that my week off is going to be hellish. That she's going to leave the dogs home alone while she goes wherever for Christmas. I can't hear the tv properly for them barking. Anyone else also fretting?

I think worrying about something that you have no reason to expect will happen is a bit unreasonable, but I get you can’t help it. If they go away for Christmas they’ll take the dogs/kennel them.

You could confront the dogs directly

That sounds awful OP. No wonder you are on edge about it. I would be too. Barking dogs seem to strike a nerve with my ears!

I don't think a dog barking incessantly while its owner is out is having a good time, nor is it happy.
Did you even read the OP?

A dog barking incessantly while its owners are out enjoying themselves in peace elsewhere is the opposite of happiness @Maddy70

I think some posers on this thread may have had a Christmas sherry or two’! Op you need to stop the polite notes and have a proper conversation .

IwishIdidntlikesugar · 22/12/2023 00:42

Yes me. I think id prefer dogs barking tbh. I Have someone who seems to be naturally noisy and heavy handed. Ive just listened to her bang and slam doors unnecessarily. Loud voice and can talk forever on the phone but im also on edge about visitors who stay over til the early hours/ all night. I can hear conversations/shrieking/laughing and get woken up by it. Really hoping they go away, especially over the new year.

Yes, we live above a business who spent last Christmas day using it as their personal party space. Blasting music, people coming and going all day and night. It was awful and ruined our Christmas day. Dreading the same thing happening again.

I live next to a pub so..... yes, a bit.
