Green algae on fence

Has anyone managed to get rid of it with chemical?

Painting over lasted a couple of weeks on front fence, so before painting much bigger bag fence I would like to treat it with something.

Thank you.

You can brush it off with a stiff brush.

Or with washing up liquid and water, and a less stiff brush.

It's probably in a shaded area, so it will come back whether you brush it off or nuke it with noxious chemicals.

This is no help. But we have a random fence post with some form of algae on it that is only found in 4 other areas of the UK. The fence post had to remain insitu when the rest of the fence was replaced.

Think what I'm saying is that you might have something rare and precious.

I used Patio Magic on my fence, worked a treat.

Go careful on what you use, because whatever toxic chemical you put on the fence will wash off and down into the soil and affect your plants.

I'd much rather see a nice brown fence which has then been colonised by moss, algae or whatever. Looks far more natural and blends into what is, after all, supposed to be a garden.

We use this stuff twice per year and it's like magic. There is no expiry date and one bottle lasts ages (you dilute it in a sprayer).
