When would the wind be too strong for you to drive in?

Yellow weather warning, winds of 60mph where I am this morning. My friend has a powercut in the next town. I have a journey to make but I’m thinking twice. What would you say?

Just posted on another thread but DS GF car was hit by a falling tree this morning, it’s crushed the windscreen in and split open the roof . She is extremely lucky and a few more inches one way and she could have been seriously injured and even killed. Have seen a sheet of metal fly down my road. I have actually been in a major weather event in Budapest in 2006 where several people were killed in a huge storm with high winds and flash flooding. That was scary, it’s not that level here. I would avoid motorways due to high sided lorry’s and densely wooded areas if possible.

I am off to a Christmas lunch, it’s not far, already paid for it’s a short drive it’s unpleasant out there but I’m going.

Oh I hope she's ok. That does sound terrifying.

Motorways are fine down here. I hate them (4 lanes seem to confuse everyone and they all sit in lane 3 and I get pissed off even though I just sit in lane one) so I got off on the a5 and spent the whole time thinking there were more trees than I expected and maybe I made the wrong decision.
