Can you become immune to food poisoning?

I’m just musing, but I am terrible with ‘food safety’ (just for me, am much more careful with Dd!)

I will eat fried chicken that’s been left out overnight in my warm house for example and never get sick. I’ve eaten chicken that I thought smelt a bit off, but washed it and it was fine.

Honestly I’ve eaten dried up salami off a plate without even thinking, and just sliced off mould cheese. Oh and just scraped off the mould on yogurt and finished the pot.

Am I so disgusting I’ve discovered my super power 😂

Never ill abroad either, even drinking the tap water.

My Dad, mum and sister have guts of steel (me not so much so, but probably still more than most as I eat all sorts and I’m a sniff tester 😂) I swear to God my Mum could eat a sewer rat and be ok. Her food hygiene standards would blow some people’s minds and never known her have a stomach bug.
So yes I think you can. I think the more low level germs you are exposed to, the less you will react to them.

I’m pretty laid back about best before, use by dates etc. Happy to cut mould off cheese, and rarely ill. Kids have never had a stomach bug.
But also, I think I define an upset stomach differently to some people.
My body does this weird ‘dumping’ thing if I have very rich or fatty food, or a lot of meat. About 30 mins after the meal I will need to dash to the bathroom with stomach cramps and it can be quite unpleasant and explosive. But then it’s done, no more pain, no further issues. My MIL would have said that was food poisoning and taken to her bed for a few days on dry toast.
I have had norovirus following a long plane journey but I’m sure that was not linked to food.
I don’t have many takeaways or eat out, so maybe that’s where other people have issues? My kitchen is always clean even if the food has yesterday’s date on it.
