Hello everyone

I am hoping to get some good tips and recommendations from this post!

Basically I am pretty rubbish with make up. I wear foundation, blusher and mascara… and that’s it.

I really want to up my make-up game and start making more an effort. I just don’t know where to start though! I’ve tried searching on YouTube but there are so many accounts I don’t know who is good or not?

And the amount of products that are available now… well, it’s just overwhelming…

So, if you like make-up, and can give me a heads start, then I’d be very grateful!

I’ve actually decided as well to get semi-permanent eyelash extensions this weekend before Christmas so that’s a start I guess!

I just bought some make up brushes which are my first ever make up brushes! I'm impressed at how much nicer it is applying concealer and foundation with a brush. I also read a tip recently about spraying make up setting spray on the eyeshadow brush before using it to stop eyeshadow dusting down your face and that has worked well for me too.

I'm not much good with make up, but there is a Style & Beauty board here and I'm.sure you'll get lots of help there, too.

I really rate this
Maybelline Instant Anti Age Perfector 4-in-1 Glow Primer, Concealer, Highlighter, BB Cream 20ml (Various Shades)

it’s easy to apply, gives a lovely finish without being to heavy.

and good mascara like urban decay, worth spending the extra on mascara imo

Have a look at YouTube for Andreea Ali, she is one of my favourite YouTube makeup artists and has so many videos, I've learnt a lot from her.

If you go to Boots/John Lewis or the like, they have branded stands with sales assistants on each stand.

These are, for example, YSL, Charlotte Tilbury, Channel, and so on.

Choose one you would like and book an appointment with them to have a makeover so you can see what they do.

You usually get a voucher for money off their products or/and no charge for the makeover if you buy a product/s.

That way, you can see what works for you, buy one item, and look around then for cheaper products, if you wish, with the template they give you on how to make up

My brands I love and use are YSL and Charlotte Tilbury. I also use Daniel Sandler watercolour blush and Dermalogica primer skin perfect.

My routine is eyeliner pencil, concealer on eyes, for base, very pale beige over whole eyelid, then a mix of colours blended on the lower lid.

Mascara (I like Jane Iredale) then eyebrow pencil, followed by face primer (dermalogica skin perfect), foundation, concealer under eyes (YSL) liquid watercolour blusher (Daniel Sandler) then bronzer, and a touch of powder gently dabbed on with a brush at different points on my face, finished with lip balm in the day and lipstick on a night out.

I finish off with an SPF setting spray. I use the Garnier SPF spray.

I hope that helps

Some of the older Hannah Martin videos on you tube are good for learning what to do. She still worked at Bobbi Brown then so uses their products. She’s really only on instagram now and there are still some tutorials there, but the older ones on you tube are better for learning what to do. Lisa Eldridge is also worth a look, but I didn’t find them as easy.
