Gross q: but how do you remove blackheads etc without squeezing!

I squeeze too much and it's triggering peri oral dermatitis. But how else will I deal with squeezable bits and hairs on my chin?! It's also a bit of a compulsion but I can't just leave blackheads sitting there

Could you go to a salon and see if they could help?

BoxOfCats · 18/12/2023 07:32

Salicylic acid is good for preventing them in the first place. I use Paulas Choice 4% BHA gel.

There's a difference between blackheads and filaments. You don't need to empty filaments at all.

You can massage a good foaming wash or use a chemical exfoliant to address blackheads

Decent hot cloth cleanser, use a proper exfoliating flannel, regular cleansing face mask (I use the Simple Deep Cleansing facr mask once a week), remove all make up as soon as you get home, wash your face properly twice a day.

If you must squeeze use one of those flat metal tools rather than your fingers.

Here for any further recommendations as tween DS has some dreadful blackheads and doesn't know how to squeeze and can't tolerate my"help" for very long

You can buy peeling strips for blackheads - put the strip on and it sticks to them and pulls them out, in theory anyway.

MarshmallowWorld · 18/12/2023 07:45

Just bought some of those tools 🤞

Yes, I use one of the little metal tools. It's not as damaging to the skin.

ManyATrueWord · 18/12/2023 08:15

Oil cleansing method and steam? Follow up with a pH 5.5 facial wash. Oil dissolved oil so it's good at shifting things.

Peeling strips are awesome. You can make your own. I think egg white and tissue is the current trend.

I warn against those weird tweezers that you can squeeze deep down.

My DD had clusters of them when she was 13 so started a regime in her face with charcoal face wash, cleanse and fine and spot cream with salicylic acid, it's really helped
